Sure, but that perspective is obvious and over represented.

I am half Ukrainian.

Oh, very interesting....

So, you're half-Russian, half-Ukrainian, and all American.

no wonder you can't pick a side for this issue. lol

I think one of the biggest things Putin is pushing back against with this war is just overall US influence and meddling in the region. The US exerts very powerful soft influence around the world which makes it hard for other countries to rise up or get fair treatment. The US uses a lot of soft bullying I think.

US is trying to install democratic governments all over the world. You’re right that autocrats will find it hard to rise up and get fair treatment.  Putin and Xi Jinping should be concerned.

You understand that any mystery is only what you yourself have created. In fact, there’s no mystery. Everything is as clear as day. It’s simple, because there really isn’t anything. There’s only the story appearing now. And not even that.” — Byron Katie

I don’t think I buy the idea that NATO expansion provoked this. He clearly doesn’t believe Ukraine is a real country as per his speech. If NATO hadn’t expanded he probably would have invaded earlier.
Threatening to invade if you join a pact that is used specifically in case of an invasion, kinda proves its point

That must be tough at the moment. How does a detailed perspective on both sides of something not get overly influenced by your emotional reaction?

I have no national identity so I have no emotional reaction to any national thing.

The sad reality is that the Ukrainian people are now paying the price because of the insecure and paranoid Russians and the arrogant and manipulative Americans.

I don’t see how invading and controlling Ukraine is going to solve Russia’s security issues, if that is what this is truly about!    My personal belief is that there is more at play here for Russia than taking control of Ukraine so that they can feel more secure by having more land and distance from NATO Allies.

If Russia controls “all” of Ukraine they will sadly pay a heavy price.  The feeling of being more “secure” by having Ukraine as a buffer zone will soon disappear when NATO, EU countries and neutral countries that are in close proximity, or border Russia start questioning their own security and begin beefing up their Militaries and strike capabilities towards Russia!

For every action, there is an equal, or greater reaction.

What Putin has done is exacerbate and returned the West and East back into another “Cold War” state.

History is repeating itself, and we all know what happened to the USSR back in 1988 - 89 after a prolonged Cold War!   They basically went bankrupt.....  And you can rest assured that NATO, EU, and other world powers that promote democracy around the world will be making it very difficult for Russia financially and economically, and they will once again try to force them back into bankruptcy like they did in the 80’s.

Having said that, I respectfully would like to share my sadness and condolences to all the civilians and soldiers on both sides that have needlessly died or are going to die because of this war and Politics

Just sharing a few thoughts, ideas and beliefs!

You may still have traces of your finite biases with some things though.

I generally find myself taking a universal perspective but also notice how my finite tapestry distorts it.

It boggles my mind that Ukrainians and Russians fight despite having such a shared history

It's Serbs, Montenegrans, Croatians and Bosniaks here as well brother, the intertwined threads and knots in a spinner vowen together, as Milovan Djilas, Serb Montenegrin revolutionary and communist leader, and democratic socialist theoretician and writer once allegorically put it and said, right before the start of the 90's Yugoslav wars, of how will wars against each other only further serve to futily entangle and untangle and then again start entangling endlessly our long, shared, connected threads until we ultimately became one hopefully somewhat almost round curveball ?, for past several hundred centuries back that can't be easily unvowen and severeed no matter how much we try to do that in ultimately futile ways only to be untangled and then entangled again by the forward march of history and to themselves and to each other ;)

Ukrainians and russian do not fight. Russia attacked Ukraine, Ukraine is defending itself. What exactly boggles your mind about it?

The shared history Ukraine has with russia is of russian abuse towards Ukraine - for example Stalin’s Holodomor that starved up to 7 million Ukrainians to death over the course of 1 year - it basically cleared out Eastern Ukraine of ethnic Ukrainians. It’s that kind of “shared” history Ukrainians should appreciate?

@Carl-Richard Posted about a beautiful, heart felt song in another thread right next to this one, that I will also repost here, with Carls permission, titled Kyiv, that I know first heard about and that warmed my troubled heart, as tribute and honour to all the victims and souls lost in this war.

I will post also the one I can relate to cathartically and deeply with this one that Carl posted above from people's experiences here where I live from another deeply tragic war, and about another city where it took place, where the threads and bonds were tragically untangling and had to be severeed only to be entangled again, as a tribute also to all the  interconnectedness of the souls and lives lost in this war now and of those before:

I just want to highlight how atrocious this kind of stand is. The whole day today I got contacted by only 5 of my Canadian/international friends in total. Even though I’ve been posting like a crazy person on Facebook non stop, not sleeping, posting updates and so did most of my Ukrainians on Facebook. No Ukrainian now is sleeping, no one is eating, we are terrified. While it seems like the world doesn’t care about what is happening in Ukraine.

Ukraine is desperate for support, at least recognition of the atrocity of what is going on. People spread misinformation, repeat putins propaganda, or straight out say *yawn* #notmyproblem. If you honestly think Ukraine’s “perspective” is “over represented” that is a complete propaganda and vicious lie.

Dear world, your silence now means that you are standing on the side of fascism. I am not even talking about those who openly try to reason out putins actions. Now is not the time. Ukraine needs your support, sympathy and condemnation of the blood thirsty enemy. We don’t want to hear about how these are “just political games” while we watch our cities burn and our people die. There is no “sides” to this conflict, you either support the mass murder of innocent people, or you don’t.

Also, don’t use spirituality and non dualism now - how would you feel if I was kicking you in the face and when you get upset said “omg… no big dealll… you’re just upset because it doesn’t align with your survival agenda

Agree with your sentiments.

Perhaps someone sitting in a peaceful first world country can analyse the situation in a much more balanced way. There are many competing interests in this state and that's why no one can come up a clean solution.

We are all with you. And no one is disregarding your situation.

I am surprised that there is no voice in nato that says: zelensky, stop the resistance. Let the aggressor in and avoid the death of thousands, since he is going to do it the same way. then we will force him into democratic elections or he will be financially suffocated completely.

Well, probably they will do that at the end, i hope soon to avoid suffering and destruction

No offence man, but you don't understand shit. When a foreign force raped you in any way possible since you willingly left the relationship (a relationship in which you were forced into), you made concessions for your bully (aka Ukraine dropping nuclear weapons), you just don't let them do whatever they want and use you as a puppet. Imagine the Allies letting Nazi Germany do whatever they wanted just because killing is bad. Imagine letting me broke into your house, rob you, and physically abuse your family just because conflict is bad and it creates suffering.

Conflict sometimes is necessary, that's the harsh reality.

I'm not offended but I think the one who doesn't understand is you. If 7 armed guys walk into my house, the only reason I can think of to fight is to prove my manhood. maybe good for my self-image but I don't help my family at all, on the contrary

@Breakingthewall Suuuuuuuure. If someone broke into your house and started beating your wife and kids in front of you, stole things from your house on a regular basis, you'd just stay there in zen-like state and accept reality and be above the "ego stuff". This is exactly what Putin's Russia has done to Ukraine for a long time now, and you're just asking them to let themselves be violated. If they'd do that, the West wouldn't bother helping Ukraine at all, since that would mean that they agree with what is happening to them.
