@No1Here2c Id say I agree with what you said. One could assess for oneself if one sees the possibility of going down a purely independent path, or if assistance through drugs and spiritual teachers could help. I think it’s wise to do both

I think It is wise of you to be wary of potential traps. Addiction is a real thing. Not all fellow humans can be trusted.

The Spiritual journey is oftentimes much too intimate to trust in the hands of anything external to oneself. Be it chemical or otherwise...

It should first and foremost be done from your own judgment

There is this course in university that causes all this trouble, my favorite course of the entire degree. It went by the name "Spirituality, Religion and Existential Questions". Today it goes by a more pompous name ("Psychology of Religion" or something). I was allowed to write an essay about my spiritual experiences and also do a research paper on how psychology students understand the term "religion". Go figure.

I think this clip of Bear Grylls (who is a Christian) is a good example of a more "open" kind of Christian who is also still a "normie" (in the sense of not being "mystical"; as far as I know, I could be wrong). He directly questions the term "Christian" and also mentions doubt:
