Why do you use this forum?

I've began to use this forum again after a while, which led to me wanting to ask: Do you feel that you use this forum to emotionally connect with those with similar interests? And/or, why do you use this forum?

Enjoy the verbal jousting, Leo's posts/blog (even when I do not agree.. :P)

And probably most of all, I like it as a testbed for ideas and contemplations. Certain users have unusual and uncommon ways of being and viewing things. It is a very good way to assess if I am steeped in some delusion or presenting a logical fallacy. I don't use it for serious spiritual work as I do that on my own.

You tend to find users LEGIT COME FOR YOU with pitchforks when you are biased out the arsehole - and not just me - anyone will cop it.

In addition - I like being emotionally triggered here - because it forces me to probe more inside for areas of self and attachment. ' Oh! A feeling coming up? There's some more self you little turd :P '

Deal with the issue now, on your terms, in your control. Or the issue will deal with you, in ways you won't appreciate, and cannot control.

Similar to @Natasha Tori Maru I like to use the forum as a place to intellectually spar with other nerds like myself on a variety of topics.

It's kind of like "debate bumper cars" or something.

I also use it as a space to sharpen my own insights in the process of those intellectual sparring matches.

I also find myself drawn here to play out feelings of powerlessness that I feel over macrocosmic systems operating in ways that cause suffering.

Like if there's someone on here who has a particularly misaligned view that would lead to all sorts of suffering if implemented on a wide scale, it's like there's this itch to argue them out of it.

When I was a kid, I always had to swallow all my anger and arguments. And I could never get the last word... even if I was the most objectively lucid person in the room. I could always be out-aggressed and out-powered. Other people were always able to be more certain than me, while I could never allow myself to be certain.

This happened with both adults and peers.

And this led to a dynamic of questioning EVERY SINGLE ASSUMPTION that I could be making, such that I couldn't ever communicate my pov with confidence.

But then, the people around me who were the MOST certain would always win out in debates... despite the fact that they are operating off of tons of assumptions and are blinkered in their perspective.

So, on the forum, I get to repeatedly play out the opposite fantasy of always being able to communicate exactly what my perspective is because it's in writing. And in the context of writing, it's much harder to grandstand and bloviate without coming across as wrong.

But in real life, the more certain sounding person is deemed correct, even if they're saying nonsensical things. it just hits the lizard brain that way.

So, I often get to play through the dynamic where someone tries to grandstand in writing, which would come across as certain and correct in real life. But online, it doesn't work. And then, I get to actually communicate my perspective without it immediately being waved off because of my manner of speaking and comporting myself.

Are you struggling with self-sabotage and CONSTANTLY standing in the way of your own success?

I don't seek common emotional interests; I prefer free play, just like in real life.

I attend a yoga class, and at the end of the session, when the teacher asks if we have something to share, I talk about a mosquito that bit me during all the still poses. She was surprised by my low-IQ but high-EQ question. She said something about our urges during yoga, and about the peace and mindfulness that we carry along the way also the non-violence part, especially avoiding physical violence. She added that maybe, in that moment, I could have simply shooed the mosquito away. I said, "Got it, I’ll kill it next time."

Why do I use this forum?
Because my internet skills don’t go very far.

To talk about God. You cannot talk about God anywhere else on the internet or real life as openly as you can here.  While keeping a sense of humor.

The forum is using me for it's expression.

What you know leaves what you don't know and what you don't know is all there is.

I have thought about this. I can’t answer with 100% certainty, but I find the main reason is that I resonate with some people on here. It’s like a very subtle energetic exchange going on. Felt vibes. It’s also self expression. Getting to hear what my mind has to come up with, the posts stimulating my mind and having me reach in my psyche to find an answer gives me something special. Even if it’s subtle. Just the process of thinking of a response gives me stimulation. And it feels healthy. Like how I’m engaging the part of my brain that is wired for socializing, even if it’s online it’s still a kind of social interaction, also engaging the language part of my brain.

Why ZenSwift uses the forum:

- Posting Trip Reports in a place where I feel it would be appreciated: here

- Reading what Leo Posts (I am floored with how much I've learned from this alone)

- Reading what other people say, especially the people here that appear to have a significant amount of Awakening/realization under their belt. Gives me good food for thought.

- Finding much more conscious perspectives around various topics

- Stumbling upon GOATed resources that people occasionally drop.

- Distraction

What assumptions, beliefs, or illusions am I under right now?

I have learned so much on this forum, it is a gold mine indeed.

There are very wise people here.  So, I would say my main purpose here is learning from other people and getting to know others perpsectives on things.

Where else can you find so many people claiming to be the only 'god' that creates reality arguing with the other only 'gods' about how the reality they created is wrong because they are alone in the universe as 'god' and know the absolute truth?

It's hilarious
