Are we all just going to ignore the popular vote now? Personally, I don't consider Trump to be the winner of the 2016 election because of this.

Any MAGA person yelling fraud clearly only wants to win the unnecessary electoral college and doesn't care about upholding democracy.

This has been a huge win towards a more conscious politics, not only for the USA, but also globally for the position and influence this country has in the world scale. You've fired Donald Trump and sent him and his supporters a message, that's not how you rule in a country that aims to lead the world, at least in the XXI century.

Congrats to women for the first female vice president elect, it must mean a lot. Considering Biden's age, Kamala Harris may have to present herself on 2024, wait for it.

Biden is not going to implement a lot of the policies many of us would like, and yet his election was the right one, the alternative was Trump. We can learn a lot from the last four years, it was painful, but not in vain. Biden will have to deal with a bunch of crazy MAGAs and it may get ugly with the COVID situation. But remember that Trump has shown his true colors last five days, he's not willing to accept democracy, which makes him an aspiring dictator, although he wouldn't call it like that, he would just declare the mailing votes ilegal and say he won, if he could. Aspirations that won't happen, as he won't have the support to fulfil them.

It was a pleasure, see you next time!

@abrakamowse That's an easy way to push the problems of US politics under the rug. One major thing the US is yet to learn in so, so many ways from the entertainment industry to politics to business is that the end does not justify the means. They're as a whole a very short term focused country. Most countries are but the US in particular is noteworthy in light of how its relative prosperity contrasts its cultural merit for long term human civilisation.

I don’t think that the people who watch SkyNews is all the Australians.

Those comments seem to far right extremists from Australia, but no all the Australian people.

There’s crazy everywhere. And Trump has fired up the crazies as John McCain very intelligently has pointed out.

I am so fucking happy that we finally have a female VP. I didn't expect Biden to win, and didn't realize how badly I wanted this until it happened. It feels a hell of a lot easier to be raising kids, especially a daughter, today than it did a month ago.

Now I found that most provisional ballots in Pennsylvania will start to be counted on Monday or Tuesday. Both AP and NBC have projected that those will not change the outcome, but who knows!

Quote

"(Harrisburg) — Pennsylvania’s presidential vote count continues, even as news organizations have called the contest for former Vice President Joe Biden. ...

In response to an inquiry from WITF for details how provisional ballots figured into projections, the AP provided an updated explanation of why the organization called Pennsylvania for Biden. The AP examined provisional ballot splits from “Trump-leaning” counties and found the president gained votes at an even lower rate than for mailed ballots across the state, according to the organization’s official statement. AP couldn’t confirm Saturday which counties’ ballots were used.

... most counties won’t start in earnest until Monday or Tuesday ... So far, 59 counties have reported more than 106,000 provisionals in response to WITF’s inquiry." - WITF, Nov 8, 2020

@Opo Yes, that was my last straw. Then my next hope is only the legal process.

@Mikael89 I suspect there is a lot of corruption that Trump can deal with. With Biden, all that corruption will remain uninvestigated I'm afraid.

Maybe that's true, but the corruption would just been replaced by fascism, which is even worse than sometimes some Republicans or Democrats doing shady things.

@Shin It's only for one term. I believe that the U.S. intelligence community has a good grasp of the situation and that they are largely free of corruption themselves because doing illegal things makes one vulnerable and also the intelligence community I imagine is immune to blackmail. With politicians and the private sector that's a different situation and with lots of corruption even at the top levels. This is going off topic, but look for example into what NSA whistleblower William Binney has shown about the so-called DNC email hack. It's a very high level of corruption it seems to me.

Corruption is highly correlated to your state of consciousness.

Trump is less conscious than a standard Democrat, and he would corrupt even more the institutions and the medias if he had been reelected.

The solution is not going backward toward fascism (stage red/blue), or standard Republican policies (stage blue/orange), it is going forward with the Democrats (stage orange/green) and beyond (stage green/yellow).

@Shin Yes, Trump needs to prove in court that there has been massive fraud. Otherwise there is a risk that he himself is the most corrupt one, and will bring the U.S. downwards in the dynamic spiral. So I will follow what happens.

You are talking about different things. That's not what we were talking about. I know America has done bad things and some people hate it for it.

But... BUT....

We were talking about specifically those comments, you said that because of those comments we can arrive to the conclusion that all Australians hate America and don't like it. Maybe yes, maybe not... but sending comments from a highly biased right wing news channel won't convince me of anything.

Those people don't hate America, they hate liberalism, or left leaning/socialist ideas.
