no-fap not backed by science?

33 posts in this topic

Something weird i've found recently is that no-fap is not backed up by science.

Apparently the effects are negligible.

i've only been doing no fap for like 9 days, and i've noticed some benefits I think.

Thoughts?

somehow, my fapping knowledge is huge, and I got many insights while doing it.

most of my biggest insight about life was while masturbating in fact.

fapping is backed up by me, I tryed aswell no fap. ( aswell have a girlfriend, but someday, I just want to fap anyway )

I would call about "balance"

but it should not be used for "bad/fear/avoidance". that's a BAD way to fap. Avoiding the work by fapping.

nofap, or being abused by a cycle of fap abuse, both a toxic.

fapping should be part of the work, it should be done mindfully.

if you abuse something, of course it will lead you in a hole. ( I mean, metaphoricaly speaking )

same for absoluly everything, find the "abuse line" of everything.

Doing nofap and semen retention is one of the best decisions that a man will make in his life.

Of course this is a threat to the porn industry. Porn industry is built on devilry and the unconsciousness of the masses.

LEO should really make an episode on nofap, semen retention, porn industry, etc.

It's so crazy for me to see so many self-actualizers on here being so ignorant on this subject.

I definitely get a lot of benefits from it. The porn industry and its friends are trying to take NoFap and Alex (founder of nofap) down with defamation and de-platforming. Alex filed a federal lawsuit.

As with most health and wellness related things, I feel like the effects of No Fap vary depending on each individual person's unique makeup.

Some people would benefit immensely from cutting out porn and masturbation entirely. Other people can masturbate 10 times a day and have no significant effects on their motivation / energy / relationships etc. It all depends on the person.

I personally have cut out 95% of porn (sometimes I'll relapse and watch a video) and have cut down my masturbation amounts significantly, and I have noticed myself gaining more energy and motivation because of it, but I still do ejaculate (mostly using my imagination) and feel OK with that. I don't see occasionally having a release to be a huge problem.

Of course, with all this said, I would still say on average it would be better for people - especially young guys - to cut down on porn consumption. I don't think porn is evil or wrong, but for most people, especially undeveloped minds, it can cause a lot of unhealthy habits and cutting down on it will free up a lot of physical and emotional energy. Also let's not forget there's higher-consciousness porn and lower-consciousness porn, as with anything. If you're watching "Big Booty White Girl gets DRILLED" eight times a day, you probably want to reconsider your habits.

Just my two cents.

That's not correct, but idk why you'd think this is a political issue? Unless you're that triggered by no-fap existing?

@Proactive The positive effects are imagined. The 'no-fap' movement is one of the stupidiest things I have heard of in recent times. How hard can it be to to enjoy porn or erotic material moderately? People these days are obsessed with extremes, either you are masturbating 7 times a day or restraining from it for weeks on end for no good reason. It's like saying you should starve your self for weeks because you eat too much. The whole thing has literally become a cult.

Masturbation can be a beautiful thing. A spiritual tool even. And if you let it, it will arise naturally once in a while. And it can be as beautiful as sex itself.

That's all. Don't make it too difficult for yourself.

And don't worry about porn. That's just content, as Leo would say it. Focus on the reasons why you seem to need porn so much. What's this neediness about? Investigate.

You can do nofap all you want, but it won't cure the neediness. It won't cure the source of the suffering. So investigate. And one way to do it, is to masturbate and witness that which arises without losing yourself in the mental imagery.

It's not masturbation per se that is the problem. It's porn, abusing it especially messes with your dopamine, it doesn't have an infinite supply.

I feel like this video has insight on the topic:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOAVLjJTO6M

Video suggest to do it if genuinely inspired, not making it a distraction. And of course it varies from person to person how much is alright. However, when talking about pornography the damage it creates is undeniable. There are like a dozen tedx videos made. You can search for them on tedx youtube channel

What would be an example of high consciousness porn, teal swan's model pics?'

@Light Lover Fapping and starving are as different as night and day. Have you ever given it a fair trial, like gone more than three weeks at a time since your first wank?

That's exactly what the addict to porn would say. There is no such thing as "high consciousness porn"

People believe what they want to believe. No fap. Fapping. No porn. Using porn. None of it really matters. People search for that "A causes B" scenario.

The benefits of no fap or no porn are the same as any other time when you successfully introduce some discipline into your life. Whenever you set yourself a target to control your impulses and you succeed, it will feel good and you will think you are on to a winner and want to shout it from the roof tops. You then get people wanting to defend their position. Happens all the time.

And some of that will be true. If it works for you, go for it.

Fap or no fap. Porn or no porn. It's not important. It's just another way to project your inner problems onto the outside world and you end up playing the victim and/or the blame game.

Porn addiction is a widely recognised addiction. There exists research on porn addiction, there's also a great Ted Talk on the topic, and there's a large body of research on addiction in general. So, in that sense at least this aspect of no-fap is definitely backed up by science.

But yeah, you're probably not gonna become Superman by not touching your dick for a month, as some no-fapsters want to sell you.

Knowing is not enough. We must apply.
Willing is not enough. We must do.

Science sometimes goes slower than society. Think about enlightenment, it's far from being backed up by science and if you are in this forum, you probably already have some openmindedness about the matter at least.

Look, science is something anybody can practice. Nofap is very easy to experience, because it's your own body. You go one month with fapping to porn no limit, another month with masturbation no limit but porn free and the third you go full nofap. Then you compare and make your own conclusions, you don't need a scientist with lab coat and a microscope to tell you what happened there.

Like most of the things, it's not something affects everyone the same way, depends from where you depart from and other factors. A porn addict is very likely to see improvements, but moderate users have experienced benefits too. For me feels great, but it's not that easy to maintain, so I allow myself to release from time to time. But no way I see it like something that I imagine in my mind, like some kind of placebo. It's totally real, I've experienced it enough to say this with 100% certainty.

When I saw a UFO a few years back, I knew what I saw, very clearly. My friend who was sitting beside me had the same experience.

We had direct, personal experience that verified the existence of a UFO.

If you and your friend saw and unidentified flying object, there's nothing unbelievable about that.
