Hey everyone. It's been great getting to know many of you, since I joined the forum 10+ years ago.

But this is my last post on the forum, as it's just not a place that has space for who I fundamentally am as a person... especially as a woman, as there's no space for Femininity or womanhood here.

I suppose that's why I've come here throughout these years... as there's something in me that wants to be an unstoppable force colliding with an immovable object. There's maybe some fantasy that if I'm just very high integrity with my arguments... and I am very rational and reasonable and nuanced and thorough in my perspective, that the immovable object will budge.

It's probably that it's the only space I have to play out some early childhood dynamic where I was being rational and reasonable but was being treated like I'm being irrational and unreasonable, which always infuriated me and confused me as to why I always had to be the adult in the room as a child.

So, I think I come here to play out this same dynamic.

And having so many non-receptive people with black and white worldviews and their egos tied up in being "high consciousness" is a great place to re-play that dynamic. They grand-stand as the adults in the room with their dishonest debate tactics... whilst I am just honest and throughout and thoughtful about my perspective and try to be as accurate and nuanced as I can be.

So, I just feel like this place is a waste of energy, and I need to leave that behind.

Have a great night!

That’s too bad.

It seems like the highest-quality users eventually end up leaving.

It’s hard to keep an online forum thoughtful and high consciousness. It takes very high integrity on the part of each member to be honest about what they’re conscious of and treat each discussion in terms of truth rather than their personal feelings.

What is this? That's the only question.

Definitely a waste if your goal was to move those grandstanding intellectual snobs, but your efforts weren't wasted on the rest of us. I very much appreciate your contributions and way of thinking, so thanks!

What if this is just fascination + identity + seriousness being inflated into universal importance?

Take care! I disagree with your final paragraph, but if that’s how you feel that’s cool.

Oh, it's a pity. I don't always read your posts because actually they are quite mature and long. I don't mean that as an insult, in fact I think this may be some useful communication on my end where you are landing. This forum is definitely not for everyone and is by no means the pinnacle of consciousness. It's just a community built around Leo's beliefs and crusades and his spiritual path. It attracts a lot of men who often have very different world views than women do, and a lot of us are just here to yap, not listen. This is not a serious place. It is more for yapping. The quality of discussion isn't great and a lot of people including me come here more to speak than to listen. It's actually a way I think for me to entertain myself ab it and muse a bit between work and my other responsibilities. If the discussion isn't helpful for you I agree that you shouldn't put energy into the community here. I have in fact taken long breaks from this place. I think I've taken up to a year break before here. I have never written the community off entirely so I do sometimes come back because I do enjoy yapping and making my own contribution. But yeah, I do think that sometimes realizing this place isn't always helpful and isn't for everyone is fine. The politics section is fun for me.

I agree. To be honest I think I would benefit from not putting time into this place for at least until next year and see where I am at. I would probably benefit from actually dipping out until spring time and seeing where I'm at, so I will join you in leaving.

I will see all of y'all in the spring if I so choose to return then :)

I always enjoyed her debating with Leo. Though, when I apply my own nuanced thinking I tend to not agree with her always I think she brings value.

Anyway, I think people doing what is right for them is good.

I also think, no one has to bow to another’s perspective if they honest’y don’t see it. Varied views is normal and actually a feature of us not being a cult like group.

I share nuanced things and felt Emerald didn’t respond to me a lot of those times so I find it a little odd. I actually felt she was holding on to her interpretation sometimes but we all do that.

Sad to see you go.

You were one of the very first and few people I followed years back because you struck me as so smoart.

All the best!

Your agenda did get some feedback here.

I usually felt some resentment towards men. Maybe childhood trauma so I’m not judging.

When you’re getting triggered it’s usually a sign.

All the best🙏🏻

@Emeraldall you did was find the limits of rationality. You were operating on a false principle that rationality is the best way to win arguments. This is obviously false because everyone thinks they are being being rational and also feelings don't care about facts.

The best way to persuade someone is make then feel like your are on their team (aka tribe) and find the common ground.

@Emerald I will miss you. Thanks for contributing here, Emerald :x

You had an effect on my development and shaped part of me and who I am today. I consistently read your posts, and intellectually nodded my head, even if I did not always post my agreement openly (which often, not so much now, used to get denigrated as a circle jerk or done for some "nefarious manipulative emotional" purpose).

You have very high integrity standards for debate and engagement. It is very, very difficult to feel gratified by intellectual sparring when others do not meet this standard. Frustration builds. Charge. Irritation. And an overall negative feeling that can ripple out past a simple forum interaction.

I always respected that you never violated your own terms for engagement by mud-slinging, being condescending or using sly mean rhetoric.

I am sorry to see you go.

There was a time I didn't think drugs like weed should be legal, like everybody else in the tribe. Then I thought and concluded it was not rational since alcohol is legal and it's a not at all innocuous drug. And that was a month or so before I was introduced to weed by my friends, and then I distinctively felt like a sense of pride that I had rationally concluded that weed should be legal "before" I had entered the weed tribe. So absolutely rational thought can change your mind, if you're open to that.

Right so I never said that it never works. Rationality just doesn't work all the time like in emerald's case. Also even if it works the science shows that it's not the best way.

I heard in an interview that the structure of the internet is not conducive to share nuanced ideas and having productive conversations or arguments. The two main reasons are that people feel disinhibited due to the internet being anonymous and all the context is lost through reading text. For example sarcasm and irony is hard to detect in written word.
