What Do You Regret You Didn`t Do In Your Youth?

101 posts in this topic

Some things like running a marathon I may have to pass on as I feel it damages the body, inflames the cells etc.

I may still climb some mountains or hills. Some experiences are good. I do regret not climbing some taller mountains when my friends asked me.

I`m 18 and now I have a bit of FOMO about some things that I`m able to do now, but won`t have opportunity to do later.

So what things you regret you didn`t do in your youth?

Like learning new language because your mind is plastic, in example.

I don’t regret it because I did it.

You need to experience travelling solo.

I do regret not learning piano and music theory. I wasn't given the opportunity.

1. Sex. I’m in my 30s now, and dating feels way too serious at this age. Having lots of sex is a young man’s game, relatively speaking, and that’s karma I haven’t nearly burned through yet.

2. Reading and writing (my life purpose) way more.

Some jobs require that you are good looking

"Not believing your own thoughts, you’re free from the primal desire: the thought that reality should be different than it is. You realise the wordless, the unthinkable. You understand that any mystery is only what you yourself have created. In fact, there’s no mystery. Everything is as clear as day. It’s simple, because there really isn’t anything. There’s only the story appearing now. And not even that.” — Byron Katie

Moving early to a country that suited me better. I felt like living around the wrong people, did not manage to find a quality girl as they were very rare. Shit infrastructure, lots of smokers, low pay.

Piano and music theory is learnable at any age. Plus you can easily get a DAW and start producing the kind of music you've been putting on your blog with no theory at all

I am 23.

Is it late to start learning singing / guitar ?

Not have any kind of prior experience, just a desire to express the emotions through music.

Why do you ask permission? You decide if it`s late or not.

I regret not saying yes to naughty girls in church. Big mess up.

Also, this one keeps coming back: not doing military service.

Funny, I also thought I should have done military service. Did civil service, but I think I would have benefited more from temporary military service.

I regret not being more confident about what I want in life. Too scared, too shy, too insecure. Not telling the girl that I like her, not risking that action in business, not opening my mouth when I felt like speaking up.

Here are smart words that present my apparent identity but don't mean anything. At all.

Looking back I think the one real regret I have is I was very unkind to myself and lived far too aligned with fears. I spent a lot of time alone and closed off. I wish I spent more time taking risks and being more responsible for my life and not as harsh on myself for my mistakes.

Yep, did civil service too. It did have value, but in hindsight it was just too soft and easy. To make up for it I now drink mud, skip deodorant and use pepperspray.

Not too late. Playing chords & singing songs you like is achievable to people of any age. I thought people of every generation.

Getting to the point of having freedom with the language independent of song is where most people tell me it’s too much & too difficult. Requires too much investment. But learning pop, folk, rock & country songs is very achievable to mostly anyone. Go for it!

I regret not having had a movement practice early on. I could’ve skipped so much unnecessary pain.
I regret having waited until my twenties to learn how to dance with every step. Efficient biomechanics feels right, like singing in tune. It’s what you were made for & it takes a lot of time to unwire bad habits that take you away from your tissues & physiological make up. I regret not having spent more time stretching, standing, walking, running, crawling, jumping, climbing, etc. Paying attention.
