I don’t entirely agree with this “high ground” point of view and I’m not sure why the left rejects violence especially when directly under attack. Do you not throw punches when you’re being attacked? Our democracy is under attack, truth is under attack. I see your logic and I do agree there is restraint needed. I’m not sure just passively tolerating people spreading beliefs that leads to Zionism, genocide and fascist gov is the high ground. I think we have been far too tolerant of intolerance. I think it’s all lofty and fine to defend free speech at all cost but when it’s belief systems actively being spread that leads to state sanctioned violence, I’m fine with vigilante violence in this case.

If J.D. Vence did conferences as much as he vacationed, he'd be shot by now too.

I agree and that is my choice and I do agree I need to have some self reflection on that, I’m not living aligned with the Tao by celebrating this. I’m going to excuse myself for a bit though on this one given how selfish and disgusting it is what these right wing fascists have done to democracy.

It will just make things more unstable and chaotic for everyone.

 

@Twentyfirst Yes, it is fine to have views. But making your life and identity around that is a bad game to play. Better to focus on other things. And respect others even if you disagree with things. Turning everything into a battle is not productive.

When Ice comes for you cause you voted dem or your parents die cause their healthcare got cut, you’ll be praying for more vigilantes. I’m not so sure we should rule out violence. How is this not a form of self defense?

I remember reading about a trans girl on a bridge somewhere stating that she wanted to end her life. And after encouraging her to kill herself, the rednecks, nazis, and incels all actually went to the last place she was seen and put a soyjack piece of paper near where she was last seen to make fun of her. These people were all brainwashed by people like Kirk, and that happens throughout the country. 

It's hard to not feel a little happy Kirk died, that's why I came back to this site. I never forgot this at least, not sure how it mattered though.

I hear you on that, it's a very nuanced issue. The corruption is pulling from all sides and depending where you are situated in life right now, the effects vary.

Former Democrats turned Independents such as Joe Manchin and Chris Cuomo say that they left the party because of how “extreme, partisan, and crazy” the Democratic Party has gotten like the Republican Party has in its own way.
 

I fear this tragic event could give more ammunition to the idea that both parties are equally bad and other asinine false equivalencies.
