If it wasn’t for the dominance of the growing right-wing media and alternative, most of the mainstream media not fighting back right wing extremism, and the growing division in our country then the left and the Democrats wouldn’t keep losing the messaging war.

We don't need to go high, but we need to not inflame this. War is bad for all sides. No one will benefit from a war over this.

This kind of escalating radicalization is very bad.

Pure selfishness is literally why there can't be peace. there never has been peace ever. because humans are programmed selfish creatures to survive their identities/worldviews/belief structures. Obviously there is a spectrum of selfishness, some worse than others of course and for different reasons. But its still all selfishness. The only way there can be peace is if every politician, political group, activist, group, etc. completely relinquishes their need to survive xyz identity. There is selfishness baked into everything, everywhere, including this thread with people trying to defend their own "side of things". 

Humans are creatures of selfish bullshit. The biggest issue is the lack of awareness and prying our minds to get to the nitty gritty of why we think how we think, and why we believe in what we do. If truth is the underlying with all this fluff ontop of it, then its the fluff that blocks awareness of truth at its core. But most people don't want to do that work because it will kill off parts of their identity theyre trying to survive. Nothing (or very little) things point to shed light on peoples bullshit. Social media is a literal dumpster fire of selfish vomit, essentially brainwashing people into their hive minds. Will there ever be a time when humans become so selfless that violence doesnt occur? has there ever been a time? 

But at the same time, doesn't there have to be some level of selfishness? to have a government? to have a country? a military? to just live?

It's like this counterintuitive nature of selfishness. You need people to become selfless in order for society to mend itself, but at the same time you need selfishness to defend your entire means of survival. One of the biggest problems in all this is the lack of awareness of how mind and survival works, on both an individual and collective level. There's an infinite number of things i do not know, nor will ever understand. And i try to live with as much humility as possible, because i know i'm full of my own bs, just like everyone else. but how many people will actually admit that?

This assumes that there is some sort of agency humans as a collective have in relation to what is going to transpire over the next years and decades. But the reality is that social media is unprecedented. There was no amount of human agency that could have prevented the chaos and totalitarian ideologies that arose due to new information technologies like the printing press or radio.

You can't just fix this by telling people to act well. Identities are deliberately hijacked on a scale never seen in history before, driven god knows into what sort of insanity. We have simply no idea what will happen as a result of this.

In hindsight, it will seem obvious that it could not possibly have ended any other way. It's MK-Ultra applied to every person who can afford a phone.

I agree with this - my parents and whole office are talking about it.

A bit more disconnected here in Australia, but to have my old man and Mum speaking to me so extensively about it is shocking. They give zero fucks about this sort of thing.

Not even the Trump attempt raised this sort of discourse in my circles.

True, but we're talking about millions of enraged and angered people who think everyone not in their cult is the enemy. This comes on top of Elon Musk's entire social media platform enraging millions of white people about black on white crime, which is already powerful in itself, and now this happens. There will be something serious that comes from it. Possibly hundreds or thousands of acts of violence, most of which we won't hear about, and will probably lead to very serious, larger acts of violence in the months or even years to come. 

We've already been seeing multiple acts of political violence from the right, and that's going to amp up even more.
