Wanting to feel special.

And how much of that underlies the search for nonconformity?

NO!

That is an internal need. Internal needs are not conformity.

Being horny and hungry is not confirmity. You generate that.

Adoring The Beatles is the biggest conformity

They have given me some of the best moments in my life while laying on the beach, and Tomorrow never knows is as good as taking a mushroom.
Conformity sure can be amazing!

Actually from a non dual pov everything is conformity.

Why are you playing the "hunger game"

I don't think anyone said the obvious and pervasive one: having kids is conformity, for most people.

'Conformity' is just conceptual at the meta level, we're talking about conformity at the human level.

  • TikTok trends
  • Decorating New Year tree
  • Costumes / clothes of christian priests from different hierarchies
  • Fashion industry
  • Playing soccer in school (my dad forced me to join soccer classes in childhood because every parent around us wanted their children to play soccer and be involved in soccer in some ways)
  • Singing national anthem before sporting event begins

Oh god, conformity is everywhere. It's like a set of templates that we just choose and follow / act on mechanically. I've always had some dirty feeling when I participated in an activity that I understood was just conformity, but I didn't label them as such.

But if I participate more or less consciously, for example decorate a new year tree with my family but in the background I know the act itself is meaningless and conformist, but my intention is being with my family and appreciating and loving those moments with them while they last, the activity itself loses that dirty feeling because I know why I'm doing it. I guess that isn't conformity anymore.

They're making these mistakes because conformity is a pattern synonymous with many other words.

  • A person unconsciously conforms to society.
  • A person unconsciously is shaped by genetics.
  • Quote
    1. System: Both are vast, external systems (Culture / Genome).
    2. Lack of Agency: The individual has no conscious choice or control over the initial programming.
    3. Result: The individual is shaped into a specific form (beliefs/behavior in the cultural case; biological traits/predispositions in the genetic case) that is in accordance with the system's requirements.

The similarities between these two things are endless. There are very few difference between them because it's a very similar pattern applied.

The only difference between these words is that if you conform a society, you have the potential to change and with genetics you don't.

How is this post just me acting out my ego in the usual ways? Is this post just me venting and justifying my selfishness? Are the things you are posting in alignment with principles of higher consciousness and higher stages of ego development? Are you acting in a mature or immature way? Are you being selfish or selfless in your communication? Are you acting like a monkey or like a God-like being?

Maybe you'll learn conformity if I conform a broom to your skull.

After contemplating the hell out of this episode, I got that being limited by your life story is one of the marks of conformity.

Your past is a distortion/illusion that keeps you addicted to being yourself.

Contemplate: Is it possible to live without a life story? Is it possible to generate different kinds of life stories? is it cheating? is it a lie?

I said adoring, not enjoying. Everyone talks about The Beatles, is all about and around The Beatles, t-shirts, cups about Beatles, dozens of documentaries about The Beatles, having CDs of them even when you listen through modern devices just because "how dare you throw a CD of The Beatles!".
