Chakras and full lotus is BS. You don’t even need to sit to meditate. You don’t need a fancy chair nor an ass mat. Y’all are getting lost in the Maya. Meditation is a lifestyle not just one act. The only meditation you need is reflecting on one question: “How conscious am I of Truth right now?” Thats it. Anything else is a distraction. Counting your breaths, counting your beads, mandalas, chakras, pranayama, supreme fire, Wim Hof, etc. is just mindless conformity until you recognize it as Truth. Nothing will get you closer to Truth than directly meditating on Truth. Don’t meditate on the breath. Meditate on Truth. Just be honest with yourself, any other “meditation” is taking your eye off of Truth. Contemplate Truth and rest in Truth. That’s it.

@r0ckyreed Leo was referring to kriya yoga. What you're talking about is the jnana/gnana yoga path. Very valid if you find that is what you resonate with most, and can keep up a consistent practice, but it's not for everyone as most people tend to get lost in intellectualizing before realizing anything. For jnana yoga it it is indeed irrelevant how you decide to seat (or wipe your ass, for that matter), as long as you can keep a steady focus on self-inquiry, however for the vast majority of seekers, they need to start practicing self-inquiry during a dedicated meditation time, and for that, whatever position you can be in for the longest without aches distracting you, or you falling asleep is the best. I would argue if you have mastered it, that would without a doubt be siddhasana.

Chairs do NOT exist!!!!

“Our most valuable resource is not time, but rather it is consciousness itself. Consciousness is the basis for everything, and without it, there could be no time and no resource possible. It is only through consciousness and its cultivation that one’s passions, one’s focus, one’s curiosity, one’s time, and one’s capacity to love can be actualized and lived to the fullest.” - r0ckyreed

@Leo Gura and guys, I`ve recently bought this chair for meditation. Is it good for posture and all that stuff?

No. Those are terrible. Sitting on that thing turns into torture.

Culture has been crippling our physical coherence since kindergarten by sitting us on chairs all day. It’s pure crap & makes us so weak we can’t even imagine basic human functioning anymore. Sitting on the floor is better for your health in every conceivable way if you can stomach the fact it’s going to take literal years to fix the damage caused by decades of conformity. This goes way beyond yoga or meditation practice. It’s your entire life.

I agree that lotus is not good. Sitting cross legged doesn’t mean lotus or even half lotus. Your legs shouldn’t be on top of each other.

@r0ckyreed haha funny and fitting response, but also an excellent example of the type of philosophizing/intellectualizing that gets people lost on the path of jnana yoga.

I still can't believe you guys created so much drama over sitting in a fucking chair xD

I have to argue like an expensive attorney for sitting in a chair! And dealing with smartass yogis gaslighting me about what a yoga noob I am.

When i saw your post I felt relief. I spent a good 2 years screwing my knees up trying to be all Buddha like to the point where I said to hell with it .. I now recognize as conformity!

Can't wait to get back into it now.

The only big difference is back support vs no back support. I couldn't sit on my chair comfortably without back support.

I've had my best sessions on a workout bench.

That's why you need to buy a proper chair.

LMAO asses as a trillion dollar industry, we are very picky about our ass business.

How is this post just me acting out my ego in the usual ways? Is this post just me venting and justifying my selfishness? Are the things you are posting in alignment with principles of higher consciousness and higher stages of ego development? Are you acting in a mature or immature way? Are you being selfish or selfless in your communication? Are you acting like a monkey or like a God-like being?

If you cant sit cross-legged for a lot of time you are physically weak. In that case a chair might be good for you.
