All the civil infrastructure is growing. The technology is growing. Economic development is growing. Culture is slowly advancing up the Spiral. Education. Healthcare. Housing. Oil. Tourism. Trade. Tech jobs.

This is what really matters, not the petty wars nor terrorism.

I thought that the economies of most countries in the middle east have gotten worst over time because of:

  • Dependence on oil exports
  • Corruption and poor governance
  • Lack of economic diversification
  • Political instability and conflicts
  • Limited institutional capacity
  • Inequality and social unrest
  • wars
  • globalization

That’s fire though.

But why wouldn’t they want Baghdad, Alexandria and Cairo? The lines are very close but don’t include them.

“Fire”?

You are talking about taking huge chunks of territory from six sovereign nations, one of which is a significant partner with the US (Saudi Arabia). It’s basically a plan for endless war.

The key insight here is this:

There was nothing special about Hitler that made him evil. Hitler was just a far right ultra-nationalist, and when nationalism gets taken too far it turns into ethnic cleansing and genocide.

Well - they would also have to be or become anti-semitic...what's interesting about Hitler is that i don't believe he was anti-semitic from the beginning.  I think something changed in him possibly while in Vienna before his time in politics or when he first got into politics- influenced by the political parties of that time.   He then  began to formulate his ideas of a master race. And the eradication of the Jews.  Which he put into his auto-biography.  But there was a lot of anti-semitism towards Jews from certain groups in the early 1900's in Vienna and i think he was influenced by that.  But even then Jews didn't have it bad and he even associated with some Jews as a young man.  So this anti-semitic conponent along with the strong, hypnotizing rhetoric and public speaking not only fired his followers up, but also himself, and he fell further and further into this deluded mindset.  So while there isn't something special about him, we aren't likely to see something like Nazi Germany for a long, long time, hopefully never.

Do you really think they are going to surrender land given to them by God? Just because some UN guy told them to?

I don't know who's plan this is. I know not one Israeli who cares about grabbing land in Jordan / Lebanon.

Hitler radicalized himself against Jews when he was a young homeless man in Vienna. Hilter consumed virulent anti-Jew newspapers and literature. Hitler was looking for someone to blame for his misery and the downfall and humiliation of Germany post WWI.

Netanyahu vowed to end Hezbollah and Hamas. Hezbollah will definitely not be the same anymore. I hope Lebanon can recover from the hijacking of Hezbolah after this. Lebanon used to be such a beautiful and open country in the 90s

Agreed.  Israel has stated it simply wants to change the balance of power.   We will see if this turns into a wider war but overall i think it was a good move on their part.  Now it puts the pressure back on Iran.

What I’ve noticed about the Israel-Palestine conflict is, the more someone learns about it, the more sympathy they develop for the other side’s position. Over the years, I’ve gotten countless emails from diaspora Jews and Israelis who told me my podcast helped them understand the Palestinians better. One was from an active duty IDF soldier who told me it affected the way he interacted w/Palestinians on duty. That really happened, and it was maybe the best email I ever got. I’ve also gotten many emails from people around the world, including Turks, Persians, and Arabs in just about every Mid East country, as well as other people around the world who had a one-sided hostile attitude toward Israel, who told me the series made them more sympathetic to the Jews’ situation before the founding of Israel, and the desperation for a home that drove them. This happens to everybody who v approaches the topic w/an open mind. Pro-Israel people become more sympathetic to Palestinians, pro-Palestine people become more sympathetic to Israel and the Jews. It’s the natural response when you’ve been fed one-sided conflict propaganda all your life. But there are extremists and partisans on both sides who never change, who are filled w/hatred and want everyone else to feel that way, too. These people do not want others to learn more about the situation, because they don’t want them to moderate their position toward the other side. They get really nasty w/anyone who tries to encourage understanding and moderation. But I know too many Israelis and Palestinians personally, and that they’re good people, not devils or animals, to view either side as a homogenous cartoonish evil. I got this email from someone the other day. He deserves a ton of credit for listening to all 25+ hours of my podcast series despite being angry at me for my position on the current conflict.

Kind of crazy aspiration.

I have never heard myself about an Israeli who wants that but no doubt there are some in the far right edge.

A great part of humanity is descendant of Mongols just because of this. I imagine a nationalist movement in Mongolia right now trying to get back their empire to its former Glory

Some days ago I saw a video of a very renowned old speech on the matter by a religious leader. I've been searching it but can't find it. I was quite impressed by it, the rethoric was sublime and he was naming cities of the ancient glory of the tribes of Israel

I don’t think it’s possible, Israel has a very limited population.

Also I care as much about Saudi Arabia as they care about human rights, womens rights etc.

The Israeli plan for Jordan involves relocating Palestinians from the West Bank to Jordan, a concept known as the "alternative homeland." Jordan already hosts around 3 million Palestinians displaced from Palestine and heavily depends on U.S. grants and aid. The country has a joint defense agreement with the United States and relies entirely on Israel for its water and gas supply. The Israel-Jordan border stretches 350 km. The King of Jordan understands that if this plan is implemented, his rule may be at risk, as the Palestinian population would outnumber Jordanians, threatening his reliance on support from Jordanian tribes—a crucial pillar of his authority. However, the execution of this plan is expected to follow the elimination of the "axis of resistance" in Lebanon, Iraq, and Syria, which is considered the strongest front was Hezbollah.
