I disagree with the forum

What is one thing you personally disagree with most of the forum on?

I don't disagree or agree with what is said, some of the stuff is interesting and other isn't. I don't get too personally involved in it.

I must say though, that generally most of the topics just slip into some kind of gossip back and forth or a kind of ego clash, it's common and almost every post is like that, Leo participates in it too or Probably encourages it, for some other worldly "Godly" reasons that mere mortals like me can't understand. However it gets uninteresting for me.

Example: Recently there was a very interesting post, where question was that, "what actual practices you use?"

I thought it would be very interesting to see what actual work forum is doing, but it turned into a usual meaningless back and forth.

Users who constantly change their profile picture or don't have one. It makes it harder to connect posts to specific users. I deliberately chose to never change my profile pic early on because it would make the user experience better for everyone.

Profile pictures also just tend to be really weird, low res, lack contrast or don't suit the format of a small square. Abstract geometric shapes looks like blobs when really small. Some profile pics are just weird and creepy in a way you don't see anywhere else. And don't get me started on those garish AI generated profile pics.

I perfectly understand why Leo didn't add profile banners... It humbles me to understand why thrift stores sell those weed themed Rick & Morty shirts.

Meh. She was by her own admission very debate brained (my phrasing). it far exceeded the point where it was really constructive in my opinion and she came off as very ideological, which made it hard to take her seriously.

I like @Emerald and would love to hear her recent insights and interaction on here now.  A lot has changed since she last was on here.

@Jacob Morres

I can see that in some of her posts. I think she had a personal dislike of PUA and it crept in to other valid points she raised.

@Basman

I saw that flaw in her style also. She really drove at points until it verged on being rediculous. I would contrast my style with hers and raise I pick my battles; I quickly see when others are closed off to an idea or alternate perspective. I just exit the conversation now. Occasionally I stick around if I think I am raising a point that is relevant for the forum and not the individual. But mostly I don't enjoy debating. Because really? Who's opinion is ever actually changed? Some users here are amazing and shift based on new points, others come in with so much 'knowing' there is not room for anything new. I will say this forum is great for users who are willing to look at topics from all angles.

Emerald love to 'win'. I don't see conversation or debate that way. My version of 'win' is... Hehehe when I successfully troll someone 😈

@Joseph Maynor

I miss her conversation. I really enjoyed how she always looked at mechanisms that worked behind the scenes, rather than focus on the surface manifestation of an issue.

I feel like there is a lot of closed minded judging happening where you don't really understand someone but you want to put them in a box.

Lack of work in basic spiritual skills like daily meditation or yoga.

Dismissal of psychedelic work, not going deep enough or wide enough. 100 trips is just the teaser, barely starting to go deep. Going wide, trying at least 20 different chemicals.

Damn, I didn't expect this thread to gain so much traction.

Of all the comments so far I agree with Davino's the most. Coming into this forum in the early days, I felt like I knew nothing and I saw others speaking highly all over the place.

Now I think they're just attempting to parrot the tone of people on here that actually know stuff rather than disappear from the forum for a few months to actually study or become conscious of shit.

Good point.

@WonderSeeker even though the topic you posted could be seen as negative, I think it is extremely positive in that it lets users express their feelings in a place without directing it at a single person. Or turning it into a witch hunt. Just general issues being aired in a contained space.

Thank you for the topic 🙏❤️

I try to approach dialogue from the perspective that I'm simply leaving my opinion on the table, not necesarilly trying to change people's minds.

Back and forth is only really useful to clarify points. Though it can be educational in that sense that you are forced to understand your position better through challenge.

She was very paradigm locked into "men and women are not so different". She came with very long posts that had a lot of content but little substance.

Admittedly, at times I've been very tempted to use ChatGTP against her as an experiment of who would stop responding first LMFAO very silly of me, but true nontheless

I’ve lived on both sides of this. The way I experience emotions, my body, even attraction, It’s fundamentally different. Not slightly different. Different operating systems.

equality ≠ identical

It’s easy to make generalizations and assumptions on the surface level, like debating an iceberg by only seeing what’s above the water.

The thing with man and woman is that we are fundamentally the same. Like no matter your sex you will be impacted by some lack of love and you will thrive when love gets to you, or when you are accepted. And this view has very practical implications. If you view women and men this way then there is no room for misogyny for example, if that's something you're worried about.

The only real difference is what bias each one has. For men is finding attractiveness in the feminine very easily and women viceversa. But if your bias is different you will pursue different things by definition.

I am not disputing there are differences, but in my opinion it is far more important to study how the ego works and the degrees of development.

I disagree with the non-concern over the lack of epistemic rigour most topics and posts have; ironic considering Leo has just dropped a video on epistemic responsibility.

I don't post on this forum anymore primarily because the overall content quality is so low, it feels very much a place for socialisation and goofing around.

A shame really, as a few years ago we used to have far more higher quality topics, posts, and conversations.

If we continue, this place may just turn into Actualised slop :(

It is more than that. it is creating an identity that fits your perosnality. Most people who are attracted to masculinity choose the woman identity because it fits their personality better. It is like having to choose between a warrior character and a priest character when you start playing WoW.

There is no such thing as a woman or a man. We create these identities, social constructions, because it helps us survive better. The same way we invented money and we gave them value. These post-modern people who say these identitites do not matter and we are just writing in the sand do not understand the issue. They were given ideas that they cannot handle yet. It is like giving a shotgun to a child. Very bad idea. I saddens me alot because they paint a very bad picture of the left. This is why I don't really want to say I am a leftist, because I don't want to associate myself with such weirdos.

Makes sense that the social aspect is becoming more and more dominant, with the recent AI boom and all.

I agree, it is not as simple as thinking equality will solve everything. But I am sincerely more concern about how we are the same animal. In fact my view integrates the differences, because it means you know how to apply the correct medicine.

But yes, you still have to pay attention to the differences just as a part of the survival quest. This is a politic dilema.
