@Leo Gura one big thing I've been trying to understand is if its true that "USA needs to win the AI development war so as not to be dominated by China." Eric Schmidt for example is big on this. Sometimes I can see merit to this. Other times, I question whether I have some bias here or some blind spot or some truth I'm missing.

From one angle the manhattan project was just that. Us winning led partly to hitler being stopped, if I understand correctly. 

To add to that Trump, even though I know how incredibly corrupt he is, is activating this AI development largely. So is he doing good here? or is this whole thing grounded in falsehood. 

I don't even know how to derive at the truth here. 

It could also just be a way for America to get more power, maybe its just Eric's biased towards being identified with the US military. USA is always on a drive to get more and more power. It could just be that.

It could be that these powerful people use some truth to support a largely false argument, to weaponize some truth, or it could actually be true, which maybe I'll never know without all the facts.

Nukes did not help stop Hitler in any way.

What stopped Hitler was millions of Russian bodies. My grandparents stopped Hitler.

Let's see how you feel about that when the AI market bubble implodes and half your savings is wiped out overnight. And the Fed prints so much money to backstop the implosion that a carton of eggs costs $20.

AGI isn’t possible until there is a serious jump in overall development and consciousness with the tech bros and society as a whole to have the infrastructure to sustainably support that. It’s like trying to fly to the stars in mediaeval Europe. Engineers made all these strange flying contraptions and machines and promised a lot but they had fundamental misunderstandings underlying them and a massive gap in understanding to truly transcending into a reality where it was actually possible to fly. That takes a lot of time, trial and error and development. Eventually it  came with further advancements. Right now we are being shown the weird flying contraptions and of course they have no problems lying and propping them up with strings to make it appear as if they are flying.

Where is the change??

The width of the blog has also changed for me since I got a new phone. It's really annoying because it was much easier to read before, and I can't seem to find a solution. Here's the difference in display, old vs new:
