Dalai Lama apologizes after video asking child to 'suck' his tongue sparks outcry

This is fucking hilarious! I can't get enough of these people's disturbed reactions to this.?

Here's my take: In the point of view of the Dalai Lama this is a joke, because this sticking the tongue out is part of the Tibetan culture, it's a cultural greeting to these folk. So, the equivalent to making a greeting a joke, is if we take the common western greeting of waving good bye and handshakes, well, how do I or you make this greetings a bit funny and hilarious? You'd make, depending on your bias and preference in humor, make the Vulcan sign(cuz most western countries do know of Star Trek) as a waving hand, and if you have my sick sense of humour, as I love dark humors, as a joke I can wave the middle finger/fuck you symbol as good bye, or give you a wet handshake/the electric button shake handshake. Yeah that's a prank, so I get where he's coming from. Yeah, bad moment still, but if you're willing to be open minded and try your damndest to understand his POV I think you'd get the joke, but becuase of the deep western modern indoctrination, and how we hold children very dearly, I get how it's widely misinterpreted.

It's really telling how people are instantly jumping on board with the idea that the Dalai Lama is a pedophile without doing any kind of cultural background-check. It's immediately assumed that the actions of the Dalai Lama have the same sexual connotations as it would in the West.

This is a fine example of gaslighting and thought terminating clichés. Doesn't matter the cultural relativity, or what stage of development, cognitive or moral development, personality types and traits, what ego development he's at, what states of consciousness he has born with or has attained, the life he led so far, his other lines of development in different areas of life, or that we're all just reacting and dogmatic and ideologues to our ideologies indoctrinated into us by western/eastern modern media to think and feel. No, none of those developmental factors maters, what mater is that the Dalai Lama is now a Rapist, incest pompous inbred swine that attempted to sexually assault a child! Lock the Dalai Lama away! The outrage the outcry! Let's all be judgmental to him when we still have our kiddies dance competitions and middle-upper class westerners perv on young children and teens anyways, and we get to keep our violent video games and get to keep our internet culture as it is.

The hypocrisy, double standard and deep distortions and self deceptions are amazing.

Dude, WTF are you doing here then? If you really hate @Leo Gura and can't handle the stuff covered here, just leave bro.?

Haha, what? Your posts never fail to convey the nauseating extent of your haplessness.

The political subforum here is hardly any reason to dismiss the broader aspects of Leo's teachings. Your insistence that I abandon this specific branding of spiritual insights is so ill-conceived that I imagine you merely sought to latch onto any tenuous means possible to highlight your resentment towards me after the previous interaction I recall having with you ended in your own "humiliation" as you described it yourself. Don't resent me, resent the features of your own likeness that so easily invite humiliation.

What proof do you have he wasn’t joking?

At this point no level of proof would suffice for you if such proof were even possible.

At this point, I'm concerned for your well being mate. This is legit hate posting instead of hate watching, you are now just hating on @Leo Gura for no reason, maybe for sport and sadism pleasures. Just look at how you're writing, you come off as extremely obnoxious and full of ego. Are you her to self develop? Are you here for personal development and to learn from different perspectives without hating and being a jerk man?

What everyone is assuming is that he actually wanted the child to suck his tongue. I read it as him jokingly asking the kid to do something weird he knew he wouldn’t do.

Yeah when I watched the video, that's what I got from it

It almost seemed like some old school, old man wisdom joke like "you're not going to really attempt to do that are you silly? *wacks you over the head with a bamboo stick*" Obviously he can't hit a kid with a stick lol.  It reminded me of like some sensei telling somebody to do something silly

I tell you what though, it's been entertaining watching the reactions of all of this.  Some of those negative reactions are very suspect too lmao.

Keep in mind that Tibetan Buddhism is a combination of Buddhism and Tibetan Shamanism, and the Dalai Lama is the head shaman.  If he ever fully unleashed himself, the PC crowd would go apoplectic.  No humor or joy is allowed.

Yeah, it's not okay for the Dalai Lama to joke like this, but perfectly fine watching little children, half naked in dancing competitions and twerking in the west. Deep biases and double standards here. Nice also to see how upset these online lefties can get, it's entertainment at it's finest. Shows how undeveloped the rest of the world is. Meanwhile technology and AI are rapidly developing inverse proportionate to human development.

Yeah, I don't know that name of the occult, esoteric branch in Tibetan but this small group of people do do spiritual practices that develop Siddhis too. Remember when China's CCP army invaded Tibet? There was a severe snow storm that repelled them away from some of the temples. That event was triggered by a group of those magicians, likely using an egregor to funnel that much magic energy.

About the occult powers of the shamanic roots in Tibet, it's part Buddhism part Shamanic, so magical powers are likely practiced behind closed doors.

The Dalai Lama is extremely respectful of Western sentiments and doesn’t go out of the way to create controversy.  But sometimes he misjudges the extent of pettiness, in which case he just apologizes.    He keeps his beliefs and practices private, which would be considered bizarre or strange to a Western audience.   The other factor is that he was a head of state.  In the 1970s he was a friend of the conservative Jesse Helms, who was a vocal supporter.  I doubt that his political views would be acceptable to his liberal supporters if he fully disclosed them.  He did get in trouble for saying that Europe is for the Europeans.

So by your logic, every time someone jokingly suggests something they should be treated as though they were 100% seriously asking for it happen.

To be fair, I don't think it's appropriate to joke like that in 2023 but Dalai probably didn't even know.  Maybe a different approach would've been better like 'poke my eyeball' or 'pull my nose' or something else silly that the kid would be hesitant to do.  Suck my tongue might've been too old school xD

Jesus I forgot just how old Dalai Lama is, yeah it could be the case his humor is outdated now. Dalai Lama maybe 90's but he's looking like in his 40's.?

Now I want to see a conversation between Dalai Lama and an AI chat bot, that'll be interesting, but keep that stroke face fake Lex Fridman away from him.

If you think about carefully that 'Europe is for Europeans' does make sense, but you have to carefully think and contemplate why it makes sense.

It's like the other line 'when in Rome, do what the Romans do'. Think carefully and it'll make sense, but if you're too lefty, too progressive/socialist/liberal then you're so offended you can't contemplate properly why there's wisdom to behaving like the country you're migrating to.

In fact, there's too many people in this world now.

Cock and Bull story! Are you kidding me? This actually happened, not any exaggerated? Jeez, what interesting weird times then, but then there's always weirder and darker events that did happen, some even magical, mystical, supernatural and paranormal that nobody can explain. Or the explanation of these events are not satisfactory or challenge current notions of the past.

Shame on you for suggesting that children sucking men's tongues is a normalized part of Tibetan culture. Dalai Lama didn't merely 'stick his tongue out' as a greeting from a distance but said to the boy to kiss him on the mouth and after he did so he requested "and suck my tongue". And then leaned his tongue towards the boy's mouth.

Can you find any examples of Tibetan men asking or joking with children to suck their tongues? Can you find any evidence that this is a joke in Tibetan culture? Are there any other videos where people do this?

Shame on you for suggesting that Tibetan people think pedophilia jokes are okay. You want to 'defend' their culture, but have you asked any Tibetan people what they think? You are highly presumptuous.
