An earnist deciple is harder to find then a good guru.

The first veil to vanish is ignorance; and when that is gone, unskilful behavior goes; next desire ceases, selfishness ends, and all misery disappears.

-- The Upanishads

It's easy to say it... As if those things happen automatically...  There needs to be much effort to achieve each of those steps, they are independent things that need work on.

Jay's Riding the Ox Backwards seems to be here, when he said @2:23,

"we want to keep chasing love, but we don't actually want to fall into it."

A student once asked his teacher, "Master, what is Enlightenment?"

The master replied, "When hungry, eat. When tired, sleep."

Hark ye yet again — the little lower layer. All visible objects, man, are but as pasteboard masks. But in each event — in the living act, the undoubted deed — there, some unknown but still reasoning thing puts forth the mouldings of its features from behind the unreasoning mask. If man will strike, strike through the mask! How can the prisoner reach outside except by thrusting through the wall? To me, the white whale is that wall, shoved near to me. Sometimes I think there's naught beyond. But 'tis enough.
