I feel more connected to god when I am sick

18 posts in this topic

I generally feel drunk in life.
But whenever I fall sick or am suffering, I suddenly become more accepting, less egoistical.
I am still very much in pain but its kinda ......soothing.

Can anyone relate?

I can definitely relate, that's the good part about believing in a higher power, that it can help us when we can't help ourselves.

Most of my moments of surrender in life have come from my moments of weakness.

I think it's also important to be connected to God when you're on the upside and things are going well. That's when you can find the funny and mischievous parts of God and not just connect to its caretaking properties.

This Madonna-whore complex with spirituality is how people end up with a duality of assigning all the bad and evil sides of life or even the hedonistic and sex filled parts with Demons and the Devil and all the savior and caretaking and sanitized part to God and Angels. God is both and everything!

I wouldn’t have access to exceptinally powerful substances for God realization had it not been for my disability and sickness

@Stick wow I have the same. One of the most loving moments in my life was when I had corona and just layed there in bed. I feel like you kinda surrender to doing nothing, because when you meditate you try to do nothing, but when you are sick you have no energy to try so you actually do nothing! In a way you could even say it is the reason that you also heal, because you connect to that doing nothing energy, but maybe I am becoming too spiritual here. Also when I am sick I eat very little or nothing at all, which also makes me very connected spiritually, like a spiritual fasting retreat almost. Maybe we all should become more sick often to raise our consciousness hehe.

If I may ask, what exceptionally powerful substance are you referring to?

When the secret is revealed to you, you will know that you are not other than God, but that you yourself are the object of your quest.

I take multiple stuff, but the most powerful one is cannabis.

I almost thought you said "i feel good when im drunk" i was thinking "oh ya! ha... hence, the world?" xD

But its good to listen nd make sure everyones reading and in tune w each other, in that way, As imagine if we all jumped to a conclusion before hand... which sounds crazy but im experiencing it all the time.

Atthe same time, i hav a diff experience.. generally when im sick, im dying, and accepting isnt quite wat i feel... more like, 'against my will... sumthin like that.

p.s. im talking about "falling apart" siq, not like "oh i had a fever and i tasted weird things and then slept in my comfy bed and read bedtime stories"

I had a bad flu last month. As I was healing i swear all my anxiety, stress and so much worry just went away. I felt so good almost like when i was a kid. Like my body was in pain, but it didn’t matter. Don’t know why that happens

During my ketamine addiction I went through various sicknesses and organ damage that placed me in moments of excruciating suffering (Leo was right when he said intestinal pain is some of the worst bodily pain imaginable). In these moments not only did I have to face my addiction, it helped me directly empathise with my mothers lifelong battle with her gallbladder which produced pain for her nearly identical to my K cramps. In those moments of anguish, I also had the pervasive thought of "if this feels so unbelievably agonizing for ME, truly comprehend and imagine the suffering beyond this others are going through around the world" ultimately connecting me more with the plight of humanity. I would never wish K cramps or the suffering that comes with ketamine addiction on anyone, but I'm glad I went through it as I wouldn't be who I am today without that pain. Makes me appreciate moments now where I feel physically comfortable and with no pain as well!

@Cubbage can you recommend some places in Japan where you went to heal yourself from these?

I can definitely relate. I felt very ill a few years ago when I got covid. I’d never felt so sick before in my life and was convinced this Covid was going to take my life. But to my surprise I felt really calm and serene like I instinctively knew I was being comforted by an invisible force throughout the ordeal. Every night I would lie in bed with a sense of peace that I didn’t even care if I never woke up to greet another day, it was like I was forced into some kind of sweet surrender to my fate. There was no fear, just a gentle acceptance that maybe this is my time to go home, and I was just so ripe and ready for it. That did shock me that I could feel like that about dying, but at the same time, it was unbelievably comforting to let go so easily.

The only real healing that came about in Japan was the detoxification and direct confrontation with complete abstinence from ketamine. I meditated at temples, experienced companionship with people of other cultures and did extensive on foot tavelling but this was all flavour, I walk loads, meditate, have great relationships and eat clean at home. Japan had nothing to do with my healing, it was me facing my demons in another part of the world heavily removed from the UK for an extended period that did the actual legwork.

In terms of organ damage, milk thistle and NAC might have helped (main supplements to aid recovery) but that was just an added bonus on top of staying clean. Most K cramps feel like you are dying and you feel that you have done irreversible damage in the moment, but the body bounces back surprisingly quickly after a few weeks of total abstinence. Consistent spurts of K cramps while using the drug, with no efforts to aid healing/mitigate damage, will absolutely incur permanent damage to your gallbladder and liver though. Most people only know about ketamines affect on the bladder (I never experienced any bladder problems at all during my addiction, goes to show it affects people's bodies differently and that some of us a predisposed to protection in one organ and susceptible to damage in the others it damages) so going through the gallbladder and liver pains was interesting albeit fucking horrific.

Suffering is a pain in the arse, just be honest about that. We suffer alone and then to ease our aloneness we bring forth children into the suffering so that they too will suffer alone. If it teaches us anything it teaches us to perpetuate it.
