I love coffee, but I get addicted to caffeine super quickly, and yet, my body is really sensitive to it so I can't sustain it.

Decaf.

There's some things you gotta go Buddhist on and other things, that's where you need Star Wars.

How is that possible?!

The only way to God is to lose your mind literally. Meditation alone in most cases is going to be insufficient. If you want to reach God Consciousness you need a state change and the balls to literally be willing to go Insane while still being sane. You will not reach God Consciousness and keep your human mind in tact. Your sense of self must spill out into the world around you for you to access the mind of God,

All the information you need has already been given, that Buddist thing is just going to make you a good meditator and that is it. I commune with God all the time, I hang out with Jesus, Shiva and Krishna and I'm not bragging at all, it is something you can do if you can escape the limited human mind and rest in Infinity. With that said, you will have to go through many rough patches along the path.

You are a selfless LACK OF APPEARANCE, that CONSTRUCTS AN APPEARANCE. But that appearance can disappear and reappear and we call that change, we call it time, we call it space, we call it distance, we call distinctness, we call it other. But notice...this appearance, is a SELF. A SELF IS A CONSTRUCTION!!!

So if you want to know the TRUTH OF THE CONSTRUCTION. Just deconstruct the construction!!!! No point in playing these mind games!!! No point in creating needless complexity!!! The truth of what you are is a BLANK!!!! A selfless awareness....then that means there is NO OTHER, and everything you have ever perceived was JUST AN APPEARANCE, A MIRAGE, AN ILLUSION, IMAGINARY.

Everything that appears....appears out of a lack of appearance/void/no-thing, non-sense (can't be sensed because there is nothing to sense). That is what you are, and what arises...is made of that. So nonexistence, arises/creates existence. And thus everything is solved.

So I've been going to a Buddhist temple for 3 months now . First of all, the good. I like this place, I like these people , I'd rather have Buddhists as friends than most types of people . Meditation is also really good . If you have adhd or otherwise can't sit still and you go to one of these temples you'll be forced to sit still and meditate, that's good, it builds accountability.

But as for understanding of reality, I've been a little let down . There's lots of talk of oneness, of seeing through the ego, of no self. Sometimes if I'm lucky there will be a little blurb about everything being Mind, but unlike Leo who beats you over the head with it you get maybe a sentence or two about Consciousness, then it's right  back to practical stuff, I feel 90% of the talks given are self-help. How to be a better person, how to do the right thing , how to be more selfless.

They don't really talk about Love, Intelligence, Beauty, Goodness. And obviously they don't talk about GOD.

I'll probably keep going, it's just a little disappointing.

They talked about GOD all along, but you didn't listen !

The problem is Buddhists don't think. They discourage thinking about Reality. That is a mistake. Meditation is not enough to solve Reality.

It may sound a little simplistic at first, but in the depth of meditation, there can be a shift in perspective where the sense that something needs to be fixed or figured out simply falls away. From the absolute perspective. You still have to feed your body obviously.
it’s not necessarily that life’s problems disappear, but that, for a moment, you experience things without the assumption that there is something to solve. It’s just another perspective on the same reality.

He is the first without start . He is the last without end . He is the manifest actuality ..nothing covers him . He is the most hidden essence  ..nothing can grasp him .. nothing below him or more subtle than him .The ego is the belief I’m separate from god . Because being god is too good to be true .No matter how dark it gets or difficult it gets ..no matter how long it is going to take .. my destiny is the infinite happiness and infinite joy and love as the best thing ever ..God .  “

Of course that is the Buddhist position. But it is wrong. You will not meditate your way to understanding GOD.

It’s really two different directions, and it depends on what your goals and priorities are.

If the goal is to understand God intellectually, then thinking and deep contemplation are necessary. But if the goal is to experience peace, stillness, and bliss, then quieting the thinking mind through meditation may be more beneficial.

Neither approach is necessarily better..it depends on what someone is seeking . For example, my mother is at an age where intense intellectual exploration may not be as suitable or necessary for her. Meditation and cultivating a sense of inner peace might serve her much better.

You're probably right. But I stopped looking at it as  'meditation vs. psychedelics'

Kriya yoga has rewired my receptivity to cannabis to an extraordinary degree (it now produces higher consciousness than shrooms or LSD)

I see it more as Kriya yoga/meditative practice enhances the depths you can explore with psychedlics.
I'm sure my view will mature over time but as of now this is reflective of my direct experience

To be fair I don't think you can trip your way to understanding God either. I took Leo's comment as meaning you can't meditate (or trip) and understand God without doing some thinking.

Now, the Buddhists do understand that thinking can't be all you do.
I see three pillars

-contemplation / thinking

-daily meditation

-psychedelic breakthroughs

Don't forget that lots of people trip every year. Many of them have a cool experience, but that's just it, a cool experience.

My understanding is Buddhists meditate because a calm mind is fertile ground for insights to arise.

They also practice contemplation which is a form of meditative thinking. (yoniso manasikara)

You can’t get blood from a stone.

Learn from what each person is best at.

God-Realize, this is First Business. Know that unless I live properly, this is not possible.

There is this body, I should know the requirements of my body. This is first duty.  We have obligations towards others, loved ones, family, society, etc. Without material wealth we cannot do these things, for that a professional duty.

There is Mind; mind is tricky. Its higher nature should be nurtured, then Mind becomes Wise, Virtuous and AWAKE. When all Duties are continuously fulfilled, then life becomes steady. In this steady life GOD is available; via 5-MeO-DMT, because The Sun shines through All: Living in Self-Love, Realizing I am Infinity & I am God

Seems a fair assumption that God cannot be understood properly by just shutting off the Mind. But you can contemplate and use psychs to get there.

Understanding God requires very serious questioning of all human teachings and ideas. Not just blindly following one path.

Within Buddhism they sort of acknowledge a lot of mystical experiences that don't have much to do with the path to the cessation of suffering, just like in Christianity that they have all kinds of ideas about miracles, demons and angels, etc.

But we know that their goal is none of those things, they are just part of their universe.

I think this is what can make religions have a certain flavor of what is possible within their universe, meanwhile others might not even register something as plausible.

Like focusing at breaking down your field of consciousness is an extremely alien idea to Christianity, meanwhile within Buddhism it's close to the techniques they use to achieve their goals.

So to them, acknowledgement of the truth of the ego as a construct is absolutely bizarre, because they think your soul is this indivisible entity that was spawn once in your birth (or as a fetus, or whatever, even before your dad's sperm entered your mom's egg, because some are against using condoms).

And then Christian's use that "eternal soul" idea to peddle stuff like that you're going to eternal suffering in hell or will be reborn back to earth once a special day comes and the sinners won't get eternal pleasure, and that will depend on your moral following of Jesus teachings.

Within Buddhism the idea of rebirth is more fluid so it leads to other secondary conclusions, like the mind being reborn due to desire from moment to moment, or you being reborn as a shit eating fly if you are too obsessed with your girlfriend or wife in the moment of your death because you want to be close to her at any cost lol. But also you can be reborn as a higher being like some alien that feels a thousand orgasms per second, but even then you're not exactly enlightened.

Buddhism got the no self right.  I remember when i had the no self enlightenment.  I remember looking up buddhism and no self, and couldn't beleive it.  Judaism and christianity missed it.
