Probably behind the scenes, the AI is pulling from a few number of templates on Github. Maybe only one? But at this point, I don't think it can replace  human web developers because it's just too generic. When enough people make websites and many of them look alike, there won't be any special identity to anyone.

I mean, I made a lot of modifications, and I asked for this color palette, almost every block, and how the UI should work. I might call things “blocks” and “top bars” instead of using the correct terms, but GPT gets my drift.

It didn’t just pop out from a single prompt at all, so I doubt it was stolen from anywhere, considering the number of specific changes I made to get this result.

Though most websites are generic for attention-optimization reasons. Just like everything in society seems to converge toward a single direction, it’s probably more of a general trend caused by monocultural influence through the internet.

I could make it crazier in the future and create more unusual templates, but having a website that still looks somewhat familiar has another advantage: people don’t need ten minutes to figure out how to navigate it.

So it’s intentional. If I wanted something crazier and more gimmicky, I probably could have done it to some extent. I don’t know, for now, this makes me very happy!

i had it in orange at first . . so unsure, I just like purple.
Even did a full video based on this color in fact.

You're not entirely wrong, but it's flexible enough that you can give it specific design requirements which are unique to you and it'll implement them.

You can also give it several other websites as inspiration and it'll create something unique that draws inspiration from all of of them.

Oh no, relax. It's not stealing. GitHub is free, and developers use it to upload their code, track changes, and to showcase and share with others.

Yes, that is good. It has clear UI and easy UX.

I wonder what would happen when back-end stuff comes into the picture.

For a simple portfolio website, it seems fine. But for more complex integrative apps, I doubt it will be as easy. There are many details that need to be set manually to connect the different parts of an app together. And debugging is not so easy even with the best AIs.

I guess we'll find out soon.

Thanks, I hope so. I still need to improve the clarity of the “proposal.” For now, I know that things are still being built up, especially some of the text in certain sections, and it needs much more clarity.

But I still feel like AI is crazy in certain areas. I don’t know how much this would have cost me otherwise, but probably more than €3,000, and it likely wouldn’t have been as good or as fast.

That’s also why I don’t spend much time focusing on what I think the limits of AI are. I tried coding a game with Godot five months ago, and the amount of abuse I performed toward the AI to get it to be debugging the thing wasn’t worth it. With Claude’s credit system, it was hell.

It’s better to know what you’re doing when you work on something like that. For a website like mine, though, AI is perfectly fine. There’s no complex PHP or heavy backend. It’s just straightforward and to the point.
