Horror Movies?

14 posts in this topic

Does anyone here watch horror movies? Why do you even watch them?

I can imagine it's an acquired taste but it's so far away from anything I'd consume I just wonder how is there an audience for it...

Is it content mostly for psychopaths?

I watch a lot of horror movies . Obviously they will trigger emotions of fear and scare the shit out of you . But often their depth and the message they convey is staggering. They are also super engaging .  The movie series SAW is my favorite. There is also a movie called Melancholia which is pretty nice .

“God is the Alpha Omega .. the beginning-less  beginning and the endless end .
He is the first without start . He is the last without end . He is the manifest actuality ..nothing covers him . He is the most hidden essence  ..nothing can grasp him .. nothing below him or more subtle than him .The ego is the belief I’m separate from god . Because being god is too good to be true .No matter how dark it gets or difficult it gets ..no matter how long it is going to take .. my destiny is the infinite happiness and infinite joy and love as the best thing ever ..God .  “

-that’s a me .

The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre and its sequel are my favorite horror movies. I like how the second movie doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s a lot different than the first one, which is the real scary one.

I didn’t watch these two movies until a a year ago.

How I ended my past life:

I did watch the 2003 remake as a kid with my family, and that shit traumatized me. After that, I avoided looking at horror movies for a very long time. I tried watching Paranoral Activity 2 in the theaters at 14 years old with some friends, but I looked down the whole time.

But on a side note, I did look up to a YouTuber who is obsessed with horror movies (Cinemassacre) growing up. I love when he talks about his love for horror movies and movies in general, even though I am not a movie buff myself. I still follow his work from time to time. Cool how you could be so afraid of something, yet love it from a different perspective.

Anyway, I did eventually get over my fear of horror movies, but not until my young adult years. Now I can enjoy them.

Interestingly, I would move to TX in 2021, and in a sense live the horror IRL. Being who I am in TX (a minority and a trans woman) and surviving it, very nice. I found my little corner in TX where it is safe and acceptable to be who I am. So the circle repeats itself. Very cool how I psychically predicted my future as a kid.

Thank you for reading, and have a nice day.

I feel the same. I don't think I've ever watched a horror movie, now that I think about it. I might be lying, though.

I too want to understand people who watch them and are horror fans; they have some psychological issue for sure.

Probably in the same category of people who likes watching gore🤔

During my teenage years, I set out on a mission to watch the most disturbing movies ever made.

By day, I'd work on a video game, and by night, I'd watch films like "A Serbian Film"—that was the summer of 2014.

Fond memories!

I'm not familiar with it, but thanks for the recommendation!

If it's good, I'll make sure to avoid it. :P

I did spend too much time on Best Gore when I was a kid.

Torture manuals are okay, though.

Well, I wasn't seeking that out, I sorta stumbled into it.
