His characters contradict themselves so much. In the conversation with his parents hes like we are in heaven right now you just dont see it you need to see it. Bro they dont see it from your perspective that means you arent in heaven.

Bro that was right after he went on his ayahuasca journey and before he faked his death the first time.
It was all a uncoordinated plan but that was all part of the plan.

GG

Turns out homie was bipolar?

@LifeEnjoyer you can make up so many actors that you cant find the real you. The real you isnt an actor and he was always 'acting'. In the video with his parent at the end you can see he was getting triggered. His actor was getting triggered but it was the real him getting triggered.

in that video he appears to be off script, off-psychedelics and just a goofy normal guy

I don't think some of you guys understand how bipolar works. Bipolar means you are normal most of the time, but have occassional manic peaks and depressive lows. Occassional is the keyword there.

Bipolar does not mean you are always batshit manic. A bipolar person seems normal most of the time. You can't tell someone is bipolar from one interview.

I could be bipolar and you guys would not know it.

@PenguinPablo The schizophrenic drowns in the waters the mystic swims in. RIP.

If you ever see the matrix and Neo is waking up and they are on the computer on the other side and they are like, we are loosing him. Its like that.

This one didn’t click for me until just now… very good example!

Depends on the type of bipolar. A bipolar type 1 person is essentially a schizotypal person with OCD tendencies that goes through boom-and-bust cycles of obsessive highs-and-lows due to low stress tolerance / emotional regulation problems. The psychotic symptoms in the manic state is essentially the schizotypal traits thrown into a higher energy environment.

Mania is like if you have a problem/obsession and you can't seem to calm down or find a solution or change your focus/perspective/strategy so you just spiral into a hyper-charged state of elevated energy/stress. And after that, they experience a downregulation of their state as their obsession/problem diminishes or they find a way to regulate their emotions (or whatever cause of stress diminishes).

When they're not stressed/elevated, they're still a little eccentric. See Connor's "Mandibleus Zygomidus" video. When you dial down the schizotypalness, you get bipolar type 2 (mania without psychotic symptoms). When you dial up the schizotypalness even more, you get schizoaffective disorder. When you keep the schizotypalness high but dial down the obsessive traits, you get schizophrenia.

I too believe bipolar and schizophrenia can be linked to profound levels of creativity.

The highs and lows push to the edges, towards (hypo)mania and melancholy. Some artists may not even be bipolar and still have ups and downs that are being handled by a healthy lifestyle. Others may require therapy or medication.

A description of lived hypomania and mania experiences (43:25) :

I believe some people with those conditions, in addition to spirituality, can access deep Mysticism.

It was Connor's case. If he had managed to stabilize the state he is in with his parents, he could have kept going. Going a little far may not be bad per se, as long as you take time to come down and integrate, as Leo told him. In the beginning, he was trying to share the insights he was having. But he did so while still ungrounded, so he came off as unstable and people wouldn't give him credit. He would try even harder by being even weirder, which in the end made a disservice to the whole thing.

I haven’t been on the forum for a while, and I’m still trying to figure out what’s psychosis and what's awakening. It can also be both at the time. If people see and label « psychosis » from the outside, while the lived experience makes sense, that’s a challenge.

If anyone has any input.

It's hard to label what's psychosis and what isn't too because isn't the definition of psychosis something like, "thinking much differently from a normal person would?"

If that's the case then Connor Murphy was in psychosis the whole time, but then doesn't that make Leo psychotic as well?

@Husseinisdoingfine  Dr. Grande is pretty good. I used to listen to him on the topic of narcissism.

People don't really care about calling you thinking differently "psychosis" unless it impacts them or someone else negatively, or it leads to an inability to function or take care of yourself. If their different thinking is seen as positive, you'll be labelled a creative person, and at the extremes, you'll be labelled a genius. If it's seen as neutral or negative, you'll be labelled as odd and eccentric, and at the extremes and especially when it's negative, you'll be labelled as psychotic.

Dr. Grande is completely mistaken on many of his takes, I can't speak as to his definitions of narcissism and other topics but he posts many videos where he offers verdicts on criminal cases without putting much research into the cases at all. For example the Jack Denmo rape case where Dr Grande made a video recently claiming he believes Jack Denmo is innocent even though he left out all the evidence that point toward Jack Denmo being guilty.

I'd take whatever he says with a spoonful of salt.

A sad situation, Connor Murphy seemed to have the heart in the right place. And in his last interview he seemed to have been on a better path, although I still feel he was lost in some profound way that he was coping with.

Yes, Leo is psychotic, and most psychedelic users will fall into the same trap because psychedelics have an ego-amplifying effect (which is indistinguishable from psychosis inducing, given both are the same thing).

Psychosis just means that you confuse your own thoughts to be reality. And reality just means how important something is to your ego.

I made a thread explaining this idea further:
