I think that AGI already exists. We know nothing about technology and science. Imagine what they did with project stargate/remote vision. Now, think that they have done it 1000x on physics, chemistry, math, computer science, engineering, sci-fi tech. We are just civilians thinking we really know what is going on here on earth. Wake up!

I do think that what really happens with startups and companies are just disclosure tech from the past. We are living on the past. A small percentage of humanity is living on the future. Teleportation, warp drives, plasma engineering, telepathy, God-like tech is already here but not equally distributed.

If this possibility exists - all this tech would be with the defence contractors and be compartmentalised into oblivion. Lockheed, General Electric, Northrop, RTX etc 

The government wouldn't have the capacity to keep such a thing secret. We do this in construction - subcontract out to multiple fabricators, and find unique ways to apply carpentry via the site supervisors for a cost effective and hardy solution. The alternative being, have one subcontractor perform the service/fabrication in its entirety (lower quality control, higher cost). This way I can reduce costs and win more contracts with the client due to the secretive methods we use. Sometimes this method is used when we are constructing something unique for the government that requires sensitivity.

I take huge issue with the beauty industry and what it sells women as a whole. I find it disgusting.

It embeds the belief one IS their body. It encourages attachment to the self. This really does a number on women's psychology - society teaches them to reduce themselves. They aren't whole. Preys on vulnerability to sell them something they do not need. And unfortunately, the ingrained desire to 'fit in' due to survival mechanisms is actually being leveraged and used against them. 

The perpetual use of fillers and botox make it a new normal. Anyone that doesn't conform is viewed as having something wrong with them. 

Weaponizing vulnerability to make money. All of it is about non-acceptance of what IS. Reject the self in pursuit of another, better self.

Having said the above - it is the mentality behind it I dislike.

Because as a woman myself, I partake in beauty regimens. I enjoy them for the creativity they afford me. So I must be very aware of where I am engaging in a process that is negatively impacting me. Most of these pursuits I engage in for me, as I do not appear normal to others. Conforming is not the intent (for myself). I was raised by an artist and this mentality is baked into me. He encouraged 'self decoration' as a creative way to express myself. But I still need to regularly question my motives.

Lucky I place much more importance on other aspects of being and have very little attachment to my physical self (comparatively speaking). I focus on mastery of reality through skills and sovereignty.

Hey Leo,

Thank you for sharing these examples of conformity on the blog. I would love to see if you have any examples of conformity that are not as blatently obvious as botox and lip enhancement. Would love to see content on forms of conformity so lowkey that most educated people are blind to them & take for granted (excluding the domain of science).

She would spend so much time scrolling Instagram, looking at other women and plotting out her next cosmetic move.

The whole situation is just sad.

Examples abound. Conformity = unconscious social approval seeking. This forum itself provides fresh examples daily. For example, ass kissing. Conformity is cowardice and purposelessness, but if there is a purpose or highest good, it’s to be noticed, validated, accepted. That’s really what conformists live for. Take that away and they got nothing, which is why they need it.

Here is an example of what I believe to be a very subtle form of conformity. Would love to know others opinion. It's a glorification of unconcious survival behaviour. It's also conformity to a type of confusian values common in China, Korea and some other Asian nations, respecting family, cleaning your room, putting family above yourself, respecting customs etc. Not to say what he is doing is bad, but still conformity. Conformity in that he is playing the "good, respectable confusian golden boy" role (at least in my view). Stuff like this in every culture and every country (some of it unavoidable to most of us if you want to live in any given nation you must fit in to some extent), culture and cultural values as conformity. *Turn on subtitles on video

Other examples could be:

"My daily life as a wall street banker"

"My daily life as leader of North Dakota Harley Davidson bike club"

"My daily life as a Model"

"My daily life as a Buddhist monk"

"My daily life as a minimalist"

And it goes on and on....You get the idea. Being the golden child in any human domain in which following the rules of the game wins you praise and approval from your buddies in the field.

PPS: I think it would be a great idea to start a conformity examples megathread.

Everything the average human does is for mating. So any form of anti aging is just for attracting the opposite sex. If women got married young and gave a man children then he would stick with her through her older years. But now since they want to go through a rolodex of strangers and career path they have to get anti aging just to convince a man to take care of her through her menopause years even though he never got her at the peak years. Plot twist: men hate this GMO bullshit. The issue is some of the work being done is actually done well so it's undetectable. Hope that your children don't turn out completely different than what face the mother is currently wearing

Conformity example recontextualization:

being overweight, struggling with health issues and living off a processed food diet, everyone in your community is overweight and sick too. Being a militant vegan and being a good little conformist soldier shoving your vegan manifesto down the throats of anyone who disagrees with you.

I think the case in the video is a case for low ambition in the material sense. Not necessarily conformity. Most people are not that driven with ambition to build a bussiness and self-actualize. But that doesnt mean they are conformists per se. And at the same time, you can be very ambitious and driven while also being a conformist -- so it's a tricky topic and distinction to make.
