I just rewatched Avengers 2012 to continue my Marvel deep dive. It's so fucking good

I would easily rate it 8.5/10

Until you start writing plots and stories yourself, it's hard to appreciate how difficult it is to write a good story for all ages. They managed to make a plot about Gods and superheroes saving the world be not cringy.

The writing is pretty top notch, usually these type of shows have really cringe lines or just weird cheezy tropes that ruin the 4th wall but they avoided it. I'm reminded in episode 1 of the Obi Wan show where mercenaries struggle to capture an 8 year old Leia Skywalker and you're instantly robbed of all feeling of danger and feeling that these are competent criminals and left wondering wtf you're doing with your life watching a kids show.

The Avengers takes an even more ridiculous plot and through quality writing makes you forget that you're watching a Disney movie.

I'll be writing a more in depth review in the Marvel thread and also my next reviews for the next MCU movies I'm watching. Next up on the list are Thor, Iron Man 3 and then finally Avengers : Age of Ultron!

I watched End Game with Thanos but I never was big into Marvel so I didn't really understand the plot. Studying it in depth is making me appreciate it so much better. It's the epitome of comic book writing, film adaptation and business strategy all put into one great masterpiece. Looking forward to watching more of the MCU and watching Doomsday in December!

Who are your favorite Marvel characters and why? 

I like Spiderman and Tony Stark the best so far. Tony is a good guy billionaire and Spiderman is almost a regular guy just tryna help.

End Game is badass dude. You definitely have to watch all the movies leading up to it. 

I don't approach these things with analysis, and I just go by what draws me in, so I can't intelligently articulate much off the cuff.

I never found Spiderman appealing. He's one of my least fav characters. I love Tony Stark though because he's funny af and represents mastery of the physical domain, and maximizing intelligent solutions that serve a greater cause. Since I was young, I was always drawn to manipulating the physical domain in creative ways to solve important problems. Stark represents that for me. 

But to be honest, I have a hard time choosing him over Doctor Strange. Have you seen the first Doctor Strange? Amazing. If you haven't seen it, you're in for a treat: 

Something about Captain America I don't like too much. I like the Black Panther and that whole world, aside from the "purple" elements, lol.

Interesting.  When I watch a movie in the theater either I like it enough to recommend it or not.  I don't analyze too much.  

One thing to keep in mind is a lot of movies are citing each other now.  So I can appreciate that.  These are called quotes or nods in music.

Have you watched Ahsoka? It's pretty good, season 2 is gonna start in January. 

Baylan Skoll is looking for the origin of the force on Peridea, it's about to get pretty spiritual my man. He's kind of a dickhead for leaving his apprentice behind so I hope he doesn't find it but hey, we'll see what happens.
