the-last-house-on-the-left-2009.jpg

I watched both the original and the remake of "The Last House on the Left," and I have to say that I prefer the remake.

I saw the remake first and then watched the original.

While the original is interesting, it doesn't feel as upsetting as the remake; it comes off as a bit absurd in comparison.

Event-Horizon-Am-Rande-des-Universums

Event Horizon is a solid cosmic horror film.

Unfortunately, it's another case where an unreleased Director's Cut detracts from the movie. It's still worth seeing.

Another great movie featuring Sam Neill losing his mind is In the Mouth of Madness.

session-9-hall.jpg

I have to bring up Session 9 again, because it’s only now starting to really creep me out. When I first saw it, I thought it was a decent movie and didn’t give it much thought. But as time went on, it started to get under my skin. It’s like my subconscious needed days to fully process the horror. That last line—now it’s giving me shivers in a way it didn’t before.

Another movie that affected me in a similar way is Aftersun. While watching it, I felt bored, but later it suddenly hit me, and I found myself crying.

I finally watched Run Lola Run, and it’s surprisingly good for a German film.

Tom Tykwer really knows how to make a movie, and I also love his adaptation of Perfume.

Fun fact: the actress who plays Lola was born in Münster, which isn’t far from where I live—I even went to school there.

Mentioned here already, but Bugonia is awesome. Acting, cinematography, editing & sound design, all the gaslighting and psychological mind games; manages to keep the tension the whole way through. A breath of fresh air amidst all the garbage being pumped out.

Upgrade is a great film from the co-writer of the original Saw. I really enjoyed its surprising conclusion!

I enjoyed this movie even more than the previous one. It has the same director as Upgrade.
