What Do You Do To Feel Peaceful After A Long Exhausting Day ?

@Loreena There are a lot of options:

  • Listening to music mindfully (not doing other things while listening)
  • Watching an uplifting movie.
  • Reading something inspiring. Maybe an autobiography.
  • Making a tea and savoring every sip, feeling the warmth inside the body.
  • I find writing to be relaxing too, for no particular reason, no matter what it is (a journal, seminar or book notes, to do lists, quotes on the whiteboard behind my desk etc.).
  • Yoga ( it's almost impossible to not feel peaceful after doing this, especially because most yoga sequences end with Savasana -> meaning corpse pose, which makes your body surrender totally to the present moment)
    • you might not feel like doing it after an exhausting day but you will definitely feel better after it, not worse
  • Playing mellow, acoustic songs on my guitar

These are all I can think of right now. Might edit when more ideas come up to my mind.

Hot bath w/ Epsom salts, Himalayan salt, baking soda, and a few drops of a good essential oil like ylang-ylang or lavender...

After work, I enjoy golfing. 

Walking 9 or 18 holes is good, relaxing exercise. I play with a few groups of people per round as most people ride these days. We have good conversations, always friendly and sometimes we get competitive. Very peaceful IMO.

Aside from that just enjoying time with my family is peaceful in it's own way. It's like "Yea, I created this" sort of innate peaceful feeling I get.

If you been active all day there is a great chance your lymph system has been well stimulated (flushes out toxins) and if you were out in the sun a lot even better so that will most definitely make you feel peaceful when you get home after a long day.

@Loreena  The first thing I do is that I go to somewhere with people doing things in common like a park and try to observe each individual and how they are feeling at the moment and why ( from a distance of course:D) I guess it helps to engage my mind in realizing everything happening around us and we ignore it. This might seem kinda weird but it gets the job done:)

Secondly, I play the violin for some time. It brings tremendous  amount of joy and tranquility into my mind. It's like a magic touch. Music is always beneficial in any case but you gotta know what type you get calmed with.

Lastly, drinking tea is a great late night calmer for me it has worked . works and will work after an exhausting day of arduous work.

at the moment the thing i find help full is to just sit in a quite isolated room for sometime (maybe just 10 minuts) and do nothing except focusing on my breathing and trying to find some form of inner peace :)

There are a few things that I do to feel more peaceful after a long day.

1.)  I remember to nurture that inner child inside of me that we all have. We all need balance of work and play.  Just because we grow up doesn't mean we can not retain our child like gifts.  I look myself in the mirror, and I tell myself "I love you".  And the parts that I would like to improve I tell them I love them too!  It feels really good for me to sit there and stare at myself and say "I LOVE YOU" to every part of my body.  We also need to play!  Be a kid!  Sometimes I'll play a video game, dance in my room, or anything that raises my energy vibration to a higher frequency. 

2.)  I light a few candles, and burn some sage in my room to clear the negative energy. I put on some calming meditative music and send reiki to myself and others.

3.)  If I am stressed about something and I need instant relief right away, I will perform TFT- Thought Field Therapy on myself for instant relief.  It is a therapy that involves tapping certain energy points and meridian lines along the body to balance the emotions.  (It is similar to other energy healing such as acupressure.  And some people may be more familiar with the term EFT- Emotional Field Therapy, which is based off of TFT.)   If you would like more information on this I would suggest reading the book:  Tapping the Healer within by Roger Callahan.

4.) I also love studying the law of attraction, or reading a good book while sitting in my rocking chair.

5.)  A nice Epsom/ sea salt bath with candle light and soft music is great too!

6.)  Walking outside works wonders for me, and I try to find ways to step outside for a few minutes at the very least.  Take your shoes off and put your bare feet in the dirt and feel one with Mother Earth/Mother Nature.  Walking outside and looking at things far away has been known to boost people's mood.  Plus it doesn't hurt to get some Vitamin D either!
