Is Nofap useful?

26 posts in this topic

I consider myself to have an abnormally high sex drive. Its annoying at times but it I find it really hard to control that urge and it really can dictate a lot of my life decisions. For example many of my decisions will be made by how it will help me in getting laid. This is a really deep feeling within me and I am always trying to deny this but to be honest it is the truth. It has been this way since Iwas 16 years old and I am realizing I lost a lot of potential in life because of this.

I've been trying nofap and the longest I could go for was 2 weeks, but honestly I didn't feel much different. Is it worth pursuing nofap or is it just going to make me more sexually frustrated?

NoFap just ends up being extended foreplay with yourself. What you want to do is just watch sexual thoughts and impulses as they come up and just watch them. If you do that, overtime that sexual longing will be longing without an object, which is the fuel for spirit growth.

NoFap is just a materialistic version of Bramacharya, and is this perverted. It’s not about touching your dick or not, nor is it about getting rid of hornless, it’s about purifying the mind, and free that energy from being attached to a particular object.

Yeah but realistically how many dudes are gonna get there? Most just become horny celebrates. Even Leo is fucking hoes and looking at nude pics on his laptop, and he's like super conscious.

No fap is good only for those who have POIS, and I think this culture sprouted from people who have this illness but don't know about it.

You don’t HAVE to be celibate, although traditionally it’s implied. The issue isn’t with sex, but with attachment to it.

And realistically most guys aren’t going to get anywhere near spiritual growth.

Your brain ain't wired for the amount of dopamine you can get from porn today.

You can only watch porn once a month if you want a healthy brain.

Porn leads to mental health issues, that's why so many men are  depressed today.

If you truly want to know whether it's useful, try it out.

I know one thing it's definitely useful for... creating orgasms that are 10x more powerful than usual ???

Nothing but broscience. It's of course useful for people who have an actual problem / addiction. It's immaterial for normal people.

There are tons of neuroscience behind this. Brain scans included.

This is specifically for porn use, not NoFap.

I can get behind the argument that excessive porn use is not great for you, but the evidence for masturabting at all being unhealthy for you (the main point behind NoFap) is very very lacking.

It’s almost entirely anecdotal.

Yeah but most people who fap are looking to porn while doing it. And nofap can cure porn addiction.

He said excessive porn use. Evidence for it being unhealthy at all, again, is extremely lacking, and entirely anecdotal. And yes, like I also said, if you have an actual addiction, go for it. Most people don't.

What’s more important than a set amount of time not indulging in your cravings are the lessons you learn along the way.

If you’re not consciously putting in the effort to learn more about yourself (such as seeing clearly how your need to manipulate others is completely selfish), then you’re wasting your time playing more games with yourself.

The underlying agenda is love, but there are are varying degrees of love.

Higher forms of love are paradoxically more desirable.

I was thinking the same thing, heh.

Paradoxically because higher forms of love feel more desirable, yet it’s so natural and not something you need to hold onto!

Sometimes it can almost be the opposite where love feels too open it’s almost icky how open it can be
