Nofap And The Effects Of Porn, Masturbation And Abstinence

@Wini Just NoFap. Sex is actually encouraged during the NoFap phase. Real sex helps the brain change back to it's "pre-porn" phase.

I don't know about the drop in testosterone, that might be something else. I do know from personal experience that my energy level has been insane these past couple of days.

www.yourbrainonporn.com this is a great resource for learning about NoFap.

Also www.reddit.com/nofap is really great to see other people in their experiences with NoFap.

I can't believe myself sometimes.

@Avi Thx for your answer. Technically it should be the same (more or less) for the body if the ejaculation is happening because of self-stimulation or sex. In the mentioned study the drop occured after abstinence of both ...

@Naviy @PinkLadyApple

Hold the horses guys.

Most of the results most likely come not from nofap itself but since I Was using masturbation to numb my emotions,

the results came from the energy cleanse and the work on the un-number emotions I was now able to feel.

Just to clarify. Also I've invested a lot of work, been meditating for a year, so it's normal that my energy levels are higher than usual :P

In his book 'The human zoo', Desmond Morris claims that primates in the wild don't masturbate. It's a behaviour only observed in captivity. That would be an eye opener... Don't know if its true though.

After I began doing mindful meditation is like I don't need to fap anymore.

I used to do if a bit frequently, now Im not needing it. Much better to have sex with your partner.

:)

I ask because according to a (chinese?) study on this topic the male testosterone level accumulates while not ejaculating until the 6.(?) day but after that a dramatic drop in the testosterone level occurs. So your testosterone level should have been dropped to a very low level already ...

Yeah, I read about that too and that makes me skeptical about the whole thing. According to biology NoFap only has benefits if done in short spurts. Perhaps more experimentation is needed.

Personally, I went for over 3 years without masturbating (no sex either). I seemed to attract more women during that time, but that could well have been coincidence. As for all the other benefits people are listing, I really didn't experience them in a noticeable way. Therefore, I'm quite surprised to see only positive reviews on this thread and I feel obliged to let people know that it might not necessarily be a magic pill to stop masturbating.

I think this makes all sense: If someone stops masturbation while having a GF he benefits probably from better and/or more sex. If a single quits masturbation he should get laid at least once a week. If this is the case he can profit from an higher testosterone level. If not according the data we have (chinese study) the testosterone level will surely drop after one week.

If you don't know it - Dave Asprey has made also some experiments with sex abstinence:

According to another study I've recently read the testo level drops after having sex (AFAIK not as much as after long periods of no sex or sexual stimulation at all) irregardless if you ejaculate or not. I just want to mention this fact because according to Dave's experiment the best result for him was to have sex often but to ejaculate only once per month or so ....

Hey guys, I've been experimenting with not fapping since I last posted on this topic, and now I can take my own conclusions, so :

  • The increase in energy is absolutely true. Even if there is a little influence of placebo, the increase is real.

Some days ago I got an ear infection and couldn't sleep enough, which would have ruined my next day, but even so, I woke up in the morning energetically and ready to rock !

  • The description on "Think and Grow Rich" on the chapter "The mystery of sex transmutation" is pretty accurate, it's like you have more vital energy, more drive, more passion.
  • It's like you can channel all that energy into something else, (As Napoleon Hill describes) like a creative expression !
  • I did not noticed any change on my voice or anything, maybe is because my voice is already pretty rough :P
  • I noticed an improvement in my confidence especially talking with girls BUT this is not a very good example because I am simultaneously working on my self esteem so... I don't know about this one.

Conclusion : it's absolutely worth it and the results are real ! I don't know for how much longer I will keep my stream but I will certainly decrease the frequency of my masturbation :)

I'm on day 12 now. Boy the dreams I have are so dirty and feel so real. Better than any porn I have ever watched. Prime masturbation material. BUT I can't masturbate. So I guess I just have to enjoy the show. It ain't getting any easier, does it. :D

I heard that for males, 'keeping the pipes clean', reduces the risk of prostate cancer. Not sure if this is true or not but it makes for a good rationalization.

Also, why not approach it from a different angle. Maybe practice mindful masturbation or something similar? Probably best not to use porn for this. It might be easier to mindfully track your own thoughts rather than an external stimuli?

@bazera you're totally right. There are people who drink occasionally and there are alcoholics. Alcoholic can't get to the state of occasional drinker - doesn't work. He'll become alcoholic again. The only way is to fully quit and never come back to it. Keep it up MAN!

The nofap efforts are completely useless and it is a defeatist approach. Find other solutions. Do not torture yourself based on willpower.

I have done nofap before, I actually got through 6 months, however I was in a relationship at the time. I did it because my partner at the time claimed that guys that don't masturbate and watch porn all the time are better in bed. I tend to agree with her, I had a lot more sexual energy then. Anyway now I'm starting nofap again for different reasons I'm on day six, it's killing me. I haven't had such a strong desire to release before and not just in a sexual manner, it feels like my skeleton wants to jump out of my skin and go nuts, feeling so energized but also slightly aggressive. So far I'm doing more strength building exercises to deal with the aggressive feelings. Does anyone have any other good tips?

I'm just curious, for those guys who feel that porn/fap is toxic, how often exactly are you jerking off?

Like 6 times a day? Lol

30-40 orgasms depending on free time, but that was when I practiced Mantak Chia's methods for fapping without ejaculation. Then this started to get boring and I reverted to old routine - fast ejaculation and you are free for other businesses.

That's way over the top and exaggerated, the benefits are not that tangible. Say what you want, but all those things are very very subjective and it could be to do with beliefs you ALREADY have, not tangible physical benefits itself. I personally do no fap to see what happens. I do feel a little different mood wise and emotionally in a good way, but i'm not going to come on here and say what you have just claimed. It's as if you have found the answer to life after 5 days of no fap.

Edit: Same goes for anyone else making outrageous claims after such little time

I think, effects of FAP/NOFAP are very different for males and females.

I have been fapping ten times daily for the past 10 years. Time to kick this habit. NoFap day 1.

I see the confusion about people being convinced stopping helps them and others think its bs. I can understand that. It depends where you are coming from. and how it effects you. I've been mostly a once a day with porn, sometimes twice, but that is pretty rare and, more than that is something I never do  That doesn't sound too bad. However, if I get into details you can see how it is a problem for me.

Just looking at one video, or one picture per session is no longer enough stimulation and I need keep switching every few seconds in order to feel stimulated enough.  My grip has to be really tight and in a very specific way that I got used to otherwise it doesn't work. Women have an extremely difficult time and can't get me to orgasm most of the time no matter how attractive I find them because it doesn't mimic what I am used to. When I tried stopping for a long time the ability to orgasm got much much easier. I also get stuck in a pattern where certain stressors when I am alone end up with me going to masturbating as a way of coping even though they don't really help me feel that much better.

I stopped watching porn maybe 10 weeks ago. I felt that the permanent over-stimulation (having hundrets of perfect women with huge tits doing literaly EVERYTHING! you can imagine ALL!! the time) leads to not beeing interessted in normal women anymore. I found myself to not even make an effort anymore to get with a girl since i jerked off 2times just 1hour ago to porn where girls who were 10times hotter than any "reallife" girl is, did everything i could dream about in my fetish-fantasies.... and those fantasies tend to get more extreme over the years!!

I´m a bit tired now of beeing a slave to artificial!!! sexual fantasies ...i dont mean my normal sex-drive (which is quite low for a man, every second day sex is fine for me when not exposed to porn )  i feel like i created an intensified over-sexualized need, like a unhealthy chicken that is superfat after just 2 weeks cause it got fed with growth-hormones and filled with food 24h...

Because what i actualy want is a meaningful relationship, if anything. I feel by watching porn i glorified "having sex" completely but this is not what i actually want. In a strange way it created an artficialy multiplied need, implying that having sex equals beeing happy. But it has nothing to do with real life. It is a world that can only excist if you spend most of your day in a small room behind your screen feeling everything is awesome, while in reality you are not even alive ^^

I don´t want that anymore! And i dont....

I still jerk of every other day since i feel it is good for me (calms me & endorphine release ) but not to porn!! , only "normal" thinking about girls that i met etc...

I don´t say watching porn is wrong or anything, just for me i found i couldn´t handle it very well without getting sucked into this other fantasy world that has nothing to do with the real world (sucked in.... no pun intended ;)

After all it is a personal decision, most of my friends still watch porn all the time and i don´t tell them that i do not. (don´t wanna seem strange ^^ MAN! what happend to you ..first this meditation-thing ....and now: no more porn?!  are you sick? xD

No im fine thx :)

How long will it take my erectile dysfunction to go away if I do no fap or no porn? I recently had a partner and could not get it up due to my excessive porn use and consumption.
