Nofap And The Effects Of Porn, Masturbation And Abstinence

After eliminating porn completely, and 6 months of masturbating only 1 every 2 weeks, I've notice:

1. Subtle increase of vitality.

2. Deep appreciation for whatever girl I talk to.

3. Deep appreciation for foreplay and strong sensitivity to smells, and touch.

4. Ability to see the girl as another human being, not a "piece of meat.''

5. Less procrastination, anxiety, and victim mentality.

6. Girls notice me, and I stand out wherever I go. ( This is also because of meditation and personal development work)

7. A feeling of compassion for other humans.

I've failed of course (when I fall into my lower self and masturbate 2 in one week) and this is what happens:

1. Loss of interest in whatever goals I'm working on.

2. Hard to focus.

3. Want to masturbate again, and again.

4. I no longer feel my sexual energy when talking to a girl. ( She feels that lack too.)

5. Self esteem gets hurts. Anxiety and subtle anger builds.

6. No interest in socializing or going out at all.

Masturbation can be great if you know you've earned it.

But if you're in a rut or a plateau, this is the worse moment to masturbate.

Do not underestimate the power of sexual energy.

                                                                                                    Thanks!

Hey Joel, wow that's a great outcome if you truly feel it helps you that much.

I have to ask, though -- do you think it can all be attributed to this, or could you possibly be overestimating the benefits?

I'm not saying they aren't there, but I think it's important to question if one thing has as much impact as we may believe. Do you have any thoughts on other possible reasons for your health and mental benefits?

This is actually pretty interesting, because since I became more concerned with subjects like taking care of my own health and body, meditation, spiritual enlightment, etc, I began to lose interest in viewing pornography and also in masturbating. I don't know, but in the past, the moment I thought "go masturbate, go now!", I was automatically horny to do it, even only thinking about it. But now, I can say that bores me. And, previously, when I watched porn, I usually got excited as f*ck! Now, it doesn't even turn me on. I have to force myself to stay excited. However, if I am with a woman, hell yeah, now we talkin'!

It's weird... Maybe because I'm getting older, so I do not get excited that easily, dunno. Or my body wants real business! xD

But I still masturbate sometimes. Not as much as before though... I know that, physiologically speaking, ejaculating is good for our health and well-being. There are several studies that say that an orgasm a day can lower a man's risk of prostate cancer by 20%. It also helps your muscles getting hard, improving your immunity system and boosting your mood.

When I abstain for too long, my two little boys usually start hurting. And, sometimes, my body, during sleep, takes care of it and I have the so called wet dream. It is happening less and less though, but I think that's because I am aging.

You can also watch The Sperm Race Game documentary. There, they say that exists this myth that if we don't ejaculate for too long, our sperm will be better to pregnant. But the truth is that older sperm since they are fragile, they will die and release substances that can actually harm youger sperm.

Ejaculating is a natural thing after all.

@Jackthelad

It's kinda offtopic, but relates to the question about multiple orgasms in men.

It is a book from a PhD, Barbara Keesling - How to Drive Women Wild and Make Sex All Night

Pretty interesting, even though it really takes lot of effort to build up to the point of reaching the climax without ejaculation.
The quick summary of the book is to workout Your pubococcygeus muscle very frequently and contract it when You're reaching the climax.

I didn't like the end effect - Well, I liked the effect, but didn't like how hard it is to obtain in addition to frustrating half-ejaculations while You're trying to get there.

The whole another story is this method does nothing to me, since I find myself being able to ejaculate fully for 2-3 times and still be aroused, and remain hard without stopping for a second, so I'll save that method for later, when I get older maybe.

My post from RSD forum about masturbation:

Quote

Seriously You shouldn't bother asking a question to masturbate or not as long as it does not affect Your game and every day life performance. The tricky thing is that ACTUALLY will have an impact if You'll believe that it is a big deal if you beat your meat up or not, Your perception and mind can actually fuck it up against You.
The thing I tell myself constantly is it's not that important what You do, but who You are and where are You coming from.

From my personal experience I can tell You that sometimes, usually if I hadn't sex for 2 weeks, my game sucks and I'm really weird if I wouldn't jerk off and release the tension - It works similarly as meditation session for me in that case.
In any other scenario pretty much no difference.

And I never perceived acts of masturbation as something lame, to be honest I was super confident about it to an extent that I used it as a main conversation topic for many sets and making out with girls.

So like I said, it doesn't matter what You really do, it depends how do You feel about it and how it affects you physiologically, because after ejaculation a few hormones are being released including prolactin, oxytocin and vasopressin which makes us feel relaxed and kinda lazy.
That kind of thing ain't no good before working out ^^, but You decide how it affects Your other areas of life.

We can make as much opinions and theories we want or wish to follow as human beings, we're not animals that only act on instincts. My opinion on this matter is discipline. That is what we truly lack. (Including myself, which is why I have made a limit on the amount of masturbation I do)

Most men cannot maintain an erection after comming one time, so you are one of the lucky guys. ;)  But anyway, the whole philosophy here is to save your energy. You don't stop ejaculating because you want to satisfy your woman and make love forever, you do it only because you want to stay energetic and driven. And multiple whole body orgasms are said to be way more amazing than normal ones. What do i know, it's all just theory for me. I'm still working on it.

This makes no sense from a biological perspective.

All our closest ape cousins jerk off and have sex incessantly.

Your body produces sperm regardless of if you jerk off or not and then expels it through your urine if you don't use it. It's not like that sperms stays in your nuts for a month.

Sexual release is healthy for the organism. Now... perhaps not 12 times per day, lol.

I have never really habitually masturbated more than 1-2 times per day, so my fapping habit was never really that bad. But even after not fapping for a week I feel much different than how I would if I was doing it every day. But I usually break my streak after a week.

Defaq

I never understood this uprising hysteria about Porn.

But if it helped you, more power to ya.

I think it would be the opposite for me ^^

It seems amazing though, that you received so many benefits from just this refraining from this one thing.

Great that you got them, but I have hard time* believing it was a direct result from this commitment.

*No, no pun intended.

I have a question about this. So what's the deal, that we shouln't fap with porn or that we shouln't fap at all? If it's the second, how do we release if we don't have a girfriend?

I have to admit I have a problem with porn, I tried to stop more than once before but never could. I think it's a good moment now to leave it behind, I saw the videos linked in this post and inspired me.

You should probably abstain from porn as a whole and direct your focus towards real life experiences and relationships.

Masturbation is a touchy subject. Everyone's different but the point is conserving and transmuting your sexual drive into health, creativity and energy. And don't worry about sperm building up - your body has a natural way of releasing it.

But there is a purpose to that built up sperm - it is reabsorbed in the body. Not all of it, of course.

Your brain works in funny ways - it recognizes when you're ejaculating with a partner and by yourself.

Frequent ejaculation makes sense from a reproductive standpoint but what about literally wasting gallons of sperm? That can't be too healthy.

I have been attempting nofap for wow....about 3 years now? My longest streak has only been 28 days and I feel pretty ashamed about that. I am good for a week or so, feel that intense improvement and energy from not fapping and then I always end up looking at porn and giving in.... mind you throughout these years I have had multiple female partners and have not had any problems whatsoever in the bedroom. (Except when I was 21 I could never finish which I realize now was due to my excessive maturation and porn consumption)

The main issue I feel is porn, not so much masturbation  (w the exception of that "addiction" to the constant dopamine release.

I feel I have had such a hard time  (no pun intended) quitting porn was because I used to fap every single day from probably 14-24. Was I was in my younger years I was very depressed and always felt worthless. PMO was my stress reliever and the only thing that made me feel good.

I now realize how sick I was. But throughout the years, even only having a pr of 28 days, nofap has worked wonders for me in so many ways. I recommend that everyone try it.

uh yeah I just get my girl whenever I'm in the mood. I rarely watch porn. I don't have to. My lady is fine af. I'm no saint either, but I rarely fap. I read some where it drains your energy, makes you weak, anxious in social settings, break out with acne, etc. the Spartans went without it. I take after the Spartans. ^_^

I don’t understand why is this so funny. Some people have this compulsive problem and this is not the first time you took this issue not seriously. I don't think this is a topic of amusement and “lol” will definitively not help.

Maybe you can just observe your own reactions and be silent with them...See how they rise and how they fall and just look at the wave of emotions coming and going and thoughts connected to the emotions arise.

Hum, this topic is very interesting, but I'm not sure of the conclusion, some say that masturbation is bad, some say is natural. I can see that excessive masturbation is obviously bad but can't total abstinence be also bad ?

What about sex, if you're going to stop masturbating you should substitute it with sex ?

Masturbation nor sex is bad, but it depends completely why one does it. If one haves sex to escape their life or masturbates to lessen the feelings that are flowing through them, it is probable that one causes their life to escalate into a point that is even harder to take. It can take a similar form as alcoholism or drug addiction, where most of the time the person just keeps planning his everyday doings just according to having sex or masturbating, so it can have a huge negative effect on ones life.

Absolutelly agreed :]

But I am more interested on the more biological effects rather than on the psychological ones.

I think I'm going to experiment with this nofap movement for some time, and see the effects on my energy, motivation, etc.

If not beneficial to my energy, it can surely be good to my will power and my awareness of my body :D

PS: I don't know if you've already read it but there's a great book about this subject: "the power of habit"

Thank you for your quote.

The benefits of no masturbation can be very subtle. YES we are more energetic, and YES we're horny all the time. However, a great deal of these benefits came from my 1 hour daily meditation habit that I've placed about 2 months ago. This meditation is called "Strong Determination Sitting" and has allowed me to develop a strong sensitivity to my physiology, senses and intuition, to enjoy daily interactions more, be present, and compassion towards women and other people.

Try it out, here's a link:

I hope this helped.
