Weed is extremely dangerous

81 posts in this topic

I think it set me back in life.

Though hard to say that "It" was the cause.

I had lots of trauma and anxiety that lead me to using it for self medicating. It also helped me in lots of ways too.

But, reality is better without it. Or it used extremely rarely. I am going 1 year without smoking. Currently 2 months in.

@Tyler Robinson Meanwhile Switzerland's health office just approved of the first project to sell weed for recreational use ?

Oh yea Switzerland approved psychosis. Great job lol.

Just because a government approves something doesn't make it less harmful.

Let me think. Government has also approved junk food, porn, cigarettes and alcohol.

Government also approves prostitution. Let's approve child abuse. There might be some benefits to that as well.

I think If I had access to weed, I could have facilitated my recovery and healing by at least 10 times ( I have done weed only in my dreams :P)

@Tyler Robinson

It's the mentality behind people who get addicted which is dangerous not the thing necessarily by itself. There are alternative ways to consume weed so arguing that it's bad for your health is out of equation. Also what psychosis even means at the most absolute sense? Bad experience where your ground what is real and what isn't is vanished. So could it be more about perspective than about the state itself? Knowing this we could say that cannabis can be hard for people who aren't prepared and therefore it should be used with a caution like anything else in life. Case closed, peace.

weed facilitate Psychosis not cause it. If you are susceptible to psychosis, weed will make it come out but slowly and after a prologned use. It is your responsibility  to stop taking any substance if you feel it is affecting you in a bad way.

legalizing weed is very important because it will open the gate for legalizing other psychedelics. So even if it was harmful, in the bigger picture it serves a higher purpose.

@Tyler Robinson

So the goalpost is now moved. It isn't anymore about is it dangerous or not, but will it make you crazy and the answer is that it depends. If you aren't stable don't touch grass and if you feel like you could make extra step to experience life then go for it. You said: "bah!!" and I thought you disagreed with what I said. Overall point that is it dangerous is now closed because it all depends on everything and we don't have enough information to make so radical statements.

I live in San Francisco, which is pretty much the global capitol for stoners. My rival high school is where 420 started and I can tell you I know a lot of people who smoke weed that are perfectly productive. It contributes to their creativity and they can strike a responsible balance. I also know plenty of people that can go to the extreme with it and their psychology is what can really influence that. Weed has also changed a lot in the last several decades and the overall quality of the plant is not what it was back in the 60s and 70s. The plants now are a lot less healthy because growers are adding all sorts of chemicals to their growing process just to increase the THC content because uneducated stoners don't know the difference between high and low quality weed as they associate the low quality weed that just has a very high THC content that gives a bigger high as simply being better. It's not that different from the distinction between high and low quality foods. Sure, low quality foods can taste better but there is a bunch of added garbage just to give it that taste. So there's a sacrifice. This is true for almost any domain in human life.

@Tyler Robinson It's a pilot trial, done by one of our universities and its psychiatric clinics. The goal is to provide insight into a functioning regulation of the substance. It's a step in the right direction in my opinion as weed is going to be consumed, regardless of whether it's legal or not. At least this will give our government tools to spread awareness of the dangers of the drug, which is going to have a bigger impact than individuals warning against it.

Personally, I think more people should be made aware of the benefits of cannabis though.

My sister developed emphysema from chronic weed smoking. I don't think weed is like crack but there are definitely health risks to weed.

I love weed, even though I rarely smoke it. Two puffs and my meditation ability goes through the roof.

It's only dangerous if you're not responsible or have some health condition that can be triggered by it.

@Tyler Robinson Been smoking everyday for 2 years and am still just as on track with awakening and consciousness as I ever have been, Definitely more, Honest.

You cannot just absolutely assume that your experience is how it is for everyone and that it effects everyone as a net negative because there are people much older than 30s and 40s who smoke and they aren’t neccisarly cognitively compromised and it adds value to their experience in a way their endogenous chemicals simply do not give them the leg up on, I think you have had some rough periods of use and want to put a label on what your experience was and call it physically bad. I think it is way more perceptual badness than physical badness

The only negatives I can think of for me off the top of my head from my history of use are having irratic sometimes more sometimes less eating habits, And being obsessed with dreaming and using weed as a tool to maladaptive daydream, For better or worse depending on how it is harnessed it causes a full on imagination potentiation, and it also makes me masturbate too much

Did you sometimes feel like you couldn't live without it?

Haven't smoked for 3 months, but I also want to smoke this weekend as it's a celebration for me. I think I will hold out. I am not sure.

Technically I may have inhaled a bit 2 weeks ago. I am not striving to be completely perfect in my counting of months. I didn't light a joint, smoke and fall back into chronic use for 3 months. I expect a big a shakiness but I will keep my streak counting going for my own encouragement. I have no smoked a joint in 3 months.

I use cannabis like 4-8 times a year or so, either from being offered a dab pen or eating an edible. I don’t particularly like it, at least not nearly as much as some people seem to, but it can be a nice, different experience and can often be fairly insightful. It definitely produces mild wd symptoms upon cessation if you use it multiple times a day, every day, for several months or years, but as soon as I noticed I was getting wd symptoms, I stopped using it frequently, years ago. I certainly wouldn’t recommend it though; there are way better psychedelics out there.
