The truth is, there are more egregious things we can be upset about than an entertaining leftist twitch streamer splurging his money.

This video makes it sound like Marxism won't fail at Green and above. Which isn't so obvious.

I often hear of the battle between marxism/socialism vs. Capitalism...

Is there a 3rd, 4th, or even 5th option to break this dichotomy?  Maybe socialism is one o.f those.  I admittedly haven't studied political theory much.

Also...lol... it'd be nice to hear more diverse models and perspectives on human and political development rather than the ol' "from magic to mythic to rational, etc."  Lol.

I also wonder how actually practical AQAL is in the real world.  Jamie wheal, a "disciple" of wilber, said he tried using it to help organizations in a practical way and ended up literally having to simplify it down to "selves, grouls, and organizations" to make it practical.

That may work in 500 years once capitalism has sufficently met most of the world's material needs and people fully evolved past Orange.

That is so misleading.

It is Capitalism which exploits the global south, keeping those Nations impoverished, so that the global north may thrive.

And despite having stolen so much wealth from the global south, those in Capitalist Nations still needlessly, pointlessly continue to go without. And we’re supposed to give this decrepit system 500 more years before we (only in the first world) decide on a better system? What?

"The Third Position is a set of neo-fascist political ideologies that were first described in Western Europe following the Second World War. Developed in the context of the Cold War, it developed its name through the claim that it represented a third position between the capitalism of the Western Bloc and the communism of the Eastern Bloc."

:/

not supporting it btw but the name suggest it's the "3rd option"

The system is always evolving and bettering itself. So you don't have to wait for that. But it's not going away overnight.

I would say if you claim to be socialist then you must give away everything you have and will have up to the point where more giving would falter your contribution to society. Using my definition, for sure he is a hypocrite.

I think the utility of Ken Wilber's ideas is considerably amplified if you already have a pre-existing knowledge base of philosophical and metaphysical ideas to build off from.

The main benefit I found from Wilber is the way his work was able to recontextualize and integrate the way I thought about things like postmodernism, German Idealism, Eastern philosophy, etc.

I don't see Wilber's work being of much value to someone who's not already literate in at least the basics of world history, philosophy, epistemology, and science.

That would be like handing a complicated philosophical work like The Phenomenology of Spirit to an 18 year old whose main concerns are finding a job and getting laid, and expecting them to parse out how 19th century philosophy is relavant to thier current situation.
