What was the most difficult part about being a soldier?

Nothing is going to change on this issue. This has been happening for 60+ years.

Actually Leo I disagree with you here

Reason Israel had so much support historically is because the majority of the population was boomers who grew up with the Holocaust and the idea that Israel is David against the massive evil arab countries

Basically they viewed Israel as the underdog

Meanwhile, the current generation, has grown up watching the atrocities on Gaza and Israel is generally viewed as the Goliath, as the bully

That is a fundemental change in perception

Also, USA and Western Europe is starting to go to Stage Green, which is quite hostile to Israel's actions

In the past it was mostly Blue and Orange

Every left wing party in Europe, including central left and DSA in USA are critical of Israel aid

Ofc they wont sanction Israel like Russia but will put enough pressure for some change

There have been polls about Israel and the results are shocking

https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2026/06/04/most-people-across-36-countries-have-negative-views-of-israel-and-little-confidence-in-netanyahu/

This was not the case even 5 years ago

In USA Israel had double digit net support

Today is double digit negative support

And with the way they have chosen not to self-reflect at all but only lash out it will not go away anytime soon

A Pro Israel democrat in USA now is more of a minus than a plus in many states

If you believe voter opinion is irrelevant, well then democracy is dead basically

I choose to believe major public opinion can somewhat affect policy of governments

Otherwise why bother voting at all

Lastly, in the past you did not have social media like today

You had only mainstream medias and no alternative medias

Big ass reason there have been so many marches about Gaza is because of the awful footage people saw on social media coming from there

Footage that would not have appeared without social media

How come there is a big generational divide on this issue?

It is not random.

Now you may say, Israel can be done with their project within 10 years and nothing major will change in 10 years.

That is a decent argument

But I do not see Israel getting away with their devilry in the long run

Trump is the last serious pro Israel USA president

Everyone after, especially democrat will not give such blank cheques

Israel got lucky both Biden and Trump were devoted hardcore zionists.

A week of guard duty in the desert, at night, in February and on a mountain(!) How insanely cold it was

Do you get paid as a solider? How does it work with university studies and schedules

How were the living conditions? Was it comfy or it is designed for you to toughen up and therefore more hardcore?

I assume you go after high school

So it is normal for someone to be a soldier for 1-2 years then start studying?

Geniounly curious as my country has no mandatory service so I never understood the logistics of it.

Nothing that helps more than bying food 😄

Quite ok because I wasn't in the field most of the time (not in a combatant unit)

But a little break first before studying 🙃

@Nivsch Do you have to do pull ups while an officer yells at you and insults you 24/7 or is that only in American movies? :D

In the first two weeks of basic training yes. After that I had a course, and during the regular service the work relationships were quite normal.

Netanyahu has been fighting terrorists his whole career. Terrorists killed his brother. Nothing particularly new here. Arabs have been hijacking planes since the 1970s.

Stop this bullshit gaslighting, dude. Netanyahu IS the terrorist. Whoever kills the terrorist is doing community service, not terrorism. By using bullshit language like that, you whitewash actual terrorism (the whole of Israel's conception and way of survival). You should know better.

@Socrates Everything you quoted me saying is true.

You guys are lost in moralism to the point where you deny basic facts. That is not good for you.

@Leo Gura Bullshit. Netanyahu's brother was shot to death in combat, so that "fact" got fact-checked. But even the sneaky usage of "terrorism" instead of  "died in combat", which is the truth here, is so manipulative and does so much heavy lifting to steer the perspective in a way. No way you're missing this. Maybe you need to re-read the definition of terrorism.

1) Of course his brother was killed by terrorists. You have your facts wrong.

2) If hijacking planes is not terrorism, nothing is.

Typical cry-wolf Israeli nonsense.

The actual criminals for decades face a small backlash and feel terror. What did you expect? Roses and hugs?

And IDF is crazy it kills its own people and soldiers if that's what it takes to kill a few Arab ants.

msulim/arab world always doing baboon shit like this. allahu akbar!

I can't judge them though. An animal in a corner always lashes out even at it's own expense.

I have zero plans to fly to the middle east and won't ever go to Israel. Fuck that.

Anthropologically, terrorists are so interesting.

They reveal so much about belief formation.

Arguably the most brainwashed, they'll strap their own children with remote bombs and press the detonation button themselves.

It's too simplistic to say any average person could be brainwashed to do so.

A question I've never heard asked is, "What would be the epigenetic effects over successive generations?"

And perhaps that's precisely why they exist today, its a very bizarre specialised form of militant collectivism that's taken its time to prune over many generations, with one of those characteristics being all loss of a sense of individuality domesticated to one sense of external authority.

At least, for those children that actually manage to survive into mature adults to breed again.

It's far more extreme than what we see in either comparable outcomes from CCP Chine or North Korea allegiances. It's Nazi Germany on steroids, with less sophistication.

@Leo Gura 1. Terrorists didn't kill him; stop doubling down. It's not even established who pulled the trigger; you're trying to make a narrative from a non-fact. Go Google it right now and post your reply; I want to see you debunk my fact!

2. Hijacking on its own isn't terrorism; again, you're using words wrong. Hijacking and using it as a weapon against civilians is.

You've been brainwashed to the bone with anti-Muslim propaganda from majority Israeli-funded Hollywood films that portray a Muslim-type terrorist as the villain; this will take years to undo. Might as well start now; good luck!

How on Earth are native Americans relevant? I have never heard of any documented evidence of anything remotely resembling terrorist inclinations from native Americans, at any point in history, technological or otherwise.
