I think pornography should be outlawed ( at least on video format)

I'm super pro freedom, including almost total freedom of speech, abortion at six months, a lot of drugs, guns, but when it's about porn I think differently.I think porn as whole do not contribute to society, maybe it can diminish a little the number of rape, but not substantially I think, it creates a lot of problems like desensitization, emotional detachment, unrealistic expectations, arousal difficulties. Besides that, people will watch certain type of stuff and turn eager to do it in real life, what is ok, problem is that a lot of times their partners are not willing to take part on this, creating a lot of problems for their relationships.

lol I always thought this could be possible since they remove most of pedophilia and pro terrorism content.

Maybe the only reasonable way to diminish pornography is by building a society that is more fulfilling for everyone, so less people will resort to porn, and protects vulnerable people, especially women, since a lot of them are forced into it in some way.

Porn was illegal until around the late 1960s and early 1970s and that failed largely because:

We have bans on childporn and it reduces the prevalence it would have otherwise, but there's still content being produced and consumed underground. Its not possible to maximally eliminate something that there's a demand for. Even when the penalties are severe.

And the success in banning child porn is in large part due to it being niche. It would be much harder to ban the teen category.

Like, it's obvious that Japan has a problem when you have so much rape porn easily available. Because Japan is a misogynistic country. A country being less misogynistic would help reduce some of the most criminal things being made because they would take it more seriously.
