I think pornography should be outlawed ( at least on video format)

I'm super pro freedom, including almost total freedom of speech, abortion at six months, a lot of drugs, guns, but when it's about porn I think differently.I think porn as whole do not contribute to society, maybe it can diminish a little the number of rape, but not substantially I think, it creates a lot of problems like desensitization, emotional detachment, unrealistic expectations, arousal difficulties. Besides that, people will watch certain type of stuff and turn eager to do it in real life, what is ok, problem is that a lot of times their partners are not willing to take part on this, creating a lot of problems for their relationships.

The need and demand for porn is real. If you dislike it, don't consume it.

lol I always thought this could be possible since they remove most of pedophilia and pro terrorism content.

Maybe the only reasonable way to diminish pornography is by building a society that is more fulfilling for everyone, so less people will resort to porn, and protects vulnerable people, especially women, since a lot of them are forced into it in some way.

But you cannot legislate taste in porn. In general, most people have poor taste.

Porn doesn’t do those things. People do those things. Changing the behaviour of folks by forcing them can only go so far. The way people can avoid these states is through conscious choice. Porn doesn’t do anything to us that we don’t do to ourselves.

Porn was illegal until around the late 1960s and early 1970s and that failed largely because:

1. Too many Americans around that time got fed up with being sexually repressed by societal norms and the government. 

2. Adults, especially men still searched for porn films, sex shows, or smut even when that was all illegal before the late 1960s and early 1970s, because of how great the desire for sex and different kinds of sexual activity has always been a part of human nature. 

Men, especially those who are young adults or middle-aged, crave for porn and sexual variety generally more so than women because of differences in levels of androgens such as testosterone between men and women.
