Why I Think Magic Is Real

What do you mean? Do you think it's a matter of belief?

Can't a western rational scientist develop siddhis (at least to some degree) without believing in them, just doing the practices?

i'd be cautious around this Siddhis stuff too, seems like something Aubrey Marcus would be interested in. Again, like we said previously, it's just this desire for things to go above and beyond the magic that they already are. Like wanting to see a Yogi float rather than just being amazed he is breathing

Why do Siddhis impress us? Because they go above and beyond normal reality. But normal reality is the magic. Imagine that there used to be absolutely nothing, then this reality appeared from that, how is that not enough?

Now, we get greedy and want things that defy that, like levitation, mind reading, future telling, etc.

It's childish, ultimately it's an immature way of relating to God. Which is why it is Stage Purple Age 0-5 for most humans, it's that level of development. If this is your cup of tea, go follow Aubrey Marcus and his Jesus-Alien guests.

You’re late to the party . Every other corner in India lives a Yogi who has Siddhis.

There are yogis with psychic abilities in India, but not in every corner. I have personally witnessed, heard and read about the same.

I don't consider it a major deal, as anyone can develop these abilities with the right practices and environment.

There are some people in the west as well with some inborn psychic abilities and I remember reading articles about them. So it is not much of a mystery over there, though they may not be able to fully understand the mechanism behind it.

There are enlightened sages with highly advanced psychic abilities as well.

What is said to be magic could be related to a combination of these genuine psychic abilities of some amateurs as well as cleverly engineered optical illusions .

A genuine sage would not show off these abilities unless it is for inspiring faith or for practical utilities.

I really wish such sages were there in all countries, as it would help bring down the dominant materialistic paradigm in many countries around the world which is putting blinders on morality and spirituality as such.

Have you run into people with Siddhis? And do you think it takes high levels of realization to do magic, or can anyone?

I don’t know what you consider that. I’ve personally met a guru face to face who is at this level. He says he doesn’t dream at night because there is simply nothing going on in his mind. If you put a brain scanner on him, it would be a flat line.

Yes, it takes practice, time, and a well established level of enlightenment to reach that point.

And when you say “magic,” are you talking about something like literally materializing a million dollars into existence through nothing more than thought?

“God is the Alpha Omega .. the beginning-less  beginning and the endless end .
He is the first without start . He is the last without end . He is the manifest actuality ..nothing covers him . He is the most hidden essence  ..nothing can grasp him .. nothing below him or more subtle than him .The ego is the belief I’m separate from god . Because being god is too good to be true .No matter how dark it gets or difficult it gets ..no matter how long it is going to take .. my destiny is the infinite happiness and infinite joy and love as the best thing ever ..God .  “

-that’s a me .

The real magic is God/Love realization. The ordinary becoming extraordinary

I’m headed to the grocery store to contemplate what GOD is. There’s miracles awaiting there.

What you're talking about is not magic, it's just an advanced meditator.

I mean intentionally causing something that is materially impossible (or highly improbable). In manifestation communities, people will manifest things like a job, a specific person they want romantically, a vacation or a car, money, etc. These things have some gray area because they could show up without manifestation, but people claim that they get these things in a way that is highly unlikely and directly a result of their manifestation.

Then there are physically impossible manifestations like clear skin, change to one's bone structure, height; spawning into a fictional world; spontaneous physical materialization of desires, etc.

So to answer your question, I kind of am talking about materializing a million dollars, but it can be more subtle than that.

The flaw in this logic is the conflation of what "you" means.

You are God but your ego is not Omnipotent. Your logic tries to make the ego Omnipotent, which is a mistake.

This seems to imply that God can only manifest selfless desires, not ego desires. I don't really buy it. God (You) manifested selfish creatures like humans, so God can manifest selfish, twisted, or "evil" things as well as "good" things.

You can just observe that your thoughts do not directly manifest themselves.

You can sit for 12 hours straight visualizing a lightning bolt will kill you, and no bolt will hit you. This proves the ego's thoughts do not directly materialize. But they can indirectly, like if you think about chasing tornados, lightning is more likely to hit you.

How do you know this? Have you tried it?
I think it's something that has to be tested. And even if you can't do it, it might take practice. I'm just being open-minded here like you teach.

Magic is real for God, not for the ego. Magic is Infinity, but ego is finite. To have magic you have to surrender the ego's attachment to outcome, even attachment to staying alive. Then magic will happen. As long as ego is trying to manipulate Reality, that's not magic, that's survival, that's business as usual.

The ego is sneaky, it wants to use God to manipulate Reality for survival. But that isn't Good, that's evil. That's what every dicatator does. Kings and tyrants believe their will is God's Will, which delusional.

I'm aware that manifestations are mostly survival, but I want to know if they're real for the sake of epistemology. The epistemic implications are massive. It also wouldn't hurt to manifest a few things ;)

I think this is what people get bugged by.  You can't just manifest anything, that is an overstatement.  On the other hand, you do have a degree of manifesting.  You have to figure that out in your own direct experience.  You get a feel for it IMO.  It is not resolved by some kind of general conclusion.

You don't manifest a turd by wishing for it, you walk to the shitter.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

But even that you are imagining, right?  You are creating that sentence.

I get the sense that you prefer not to be challenged.

@Leo Gura I would be interested what your response to my points is. All I can think of is "you won't be able to unimagine the limitations," but that's something that can be tested and plus it is already a concession that manifestation is at least possible.

Also keep in mind that earlier human societies were operating from scarcity and desperation. They had to cling to magical thinking because there wasn't rationality. No rain this season meant starvation for the next year. They had to believe in magical entities like some God that controls the rain, and since they needed the rain so bad, they thought if they sucked up harder to that God through crazy means like worship, that God would grant them mercy. So when things happened the way they wished, they thought God responded positively to their prayers and sacrifices.

Also consider how interpretive magic can be, like sacred geom., like magic to me is actually music. I dont know how others think of it, but Music lives always at the forefront of my mind, but i just dont mention it since it sounds like its going off topic, and no one asks about it, like "What is magic, to you" kindve questions.

We might be surprised by how diff everyones vers of magic is, bet

(Cont.) "Magi" is the historical form for magician(s), i believe, of course... not that i really hold it above everything that way, or to mean much, seeing as all cultures had magic of some sort.

Not many people know how dominant the Celtic halstatt culture was in northern europe... Like, im not even sure Scandanavian (or those Celts that were to become Scandanavian) goes back to the ages Celtic does, since Northern Europe Celtic (separating it from the Ancient Southern Europe which is also very difficult to figure out, even though it literally exists inside Basque, Spanish, Portuguese, a little left over in Bolognese... or no wait im mixin that up w tge languages in Calabria or one of those) and a Celtic system we dont even have a clear history for... Or i mean, im really going far back, but not so far that its like, 2 hunter gatherers running from a ice age elephantis or something. I draw the line at Hallstatt for now, and they have things like Astrology/Astronomy, Magical Practice and Worship, etc.

p.s. i dont know anything bout russian, so no one ask me how they fit into the picture.

Your right on target w that

Thats wat i try to tell ppl to, magic, historical magic might not be the be-all-end-all interesting thing that people are imagining, or atleast, ya gotta consider that, magic can come in so many diff flavors, And so much research has gone into Egyptian and understanding that, as well as Magi and eastern practices, but its interpretive. And crazy. And not necessarily the good crazy. It all depends on how much time and attention to detail someone has to "make it make sense", just like anything else.
