Why are some unable to surrender the ego?

8 posts in this topic

I wasn’t able to surrender my ego and I want to know why. The reasons I’ve come up with is:

  • Immaturity: If you aren’t mature enough to handle the Truth you won’t do it.
  • Priorities: If you value survival and sanity over Truth you won’t go all the way.
  • Attachment: If you’re too attached to the dream you won’t let it go.
  • Fear: If you’re too afraid of the unknown (Truth) you won’t face it.

Another question I have is why did it begin to happen if I wasn’t ready?

Almost no one can transcend the ego because it's a real system, an evolutionary structure of enormous power that drives humans and makes them function like a vast, coordinated organism.

To transcend the ego, you must understand that it is precisely the ego that wants to transcend itself, and you must understand all the forces, the energetic layers that bind you to the reaction and reward system that keeps you trapped.

You must see with complete clarity everything that drives you and integrate it. Understand that you are that, and while you are that, take a step above the level of attachments, fears, and desires; then your mind will lose its limitations and become total. Oh, and you must also stop thinking that reality is a "dream" and you are going to see the "truth". Just open your psyche.

What if this is just fascination + identity + seriousness being inflated into universal importance?

You say “some” as if there are other egos around. That is the illusion. Consciousness is dreaming up every ego.

Being completely conscious of everything/nothing is death. And nobody here is ready to die yet.

You are the ego, so surrendering is to forfeit yourself.  No one wants to do that. I've always said that enlightenment via meditation has to have the element of surprise.  It has to happen quickly - within weeks- if it is too happen that way.  Otherwise a powerful psychedelic would be needed i would think.

The ego wanted enlightenment because it sounded good "I gotta get me some of that!". But it didn't realize the full implications. -Mainly its own demise.

When the secret is revealed to you, you will know that you are not other than God, but that you yourself are the object of your quest.

1. You have to forget some. You made all some. And thinking about some is chasing your own tail. 2. Why am I unable to surrender the ego? is the question. Because ego knows how to show me a good time. And I am here for good time not long time. I am going to keep doing the easy. All the while telling myself I am good and decent. 3. This I is made up. I see it but it lives in unreality. 4. I can step out any time. I don't want to. Life is good. Too good. I know the truth but like Augustine said, make me chaste O God just not today. 5. To step out I have to forgive what I see. Forgive means know it's nothing. I rather judge it. Because daddy knows best.

Because the truth is glaringly obvious, it is impossible to ignore without dumbing & numbing yourself down.

No matter how prevalent falsehood is, truth always leaks in.
