Why are some unable to surrender the ego?

Because proper psychology is restricted by the psychological establishment, nobody can tell you the concept is "ego investment." It's... All of the things you do that are annoying and all of the things you do to defend them, all of the care you give to the others because you know everyone can see their ego investment and all of the yelling you do at the others because you see their ego investment. You have to look at every moment in your past where you declared yourself above another in defense or for attack and tell it "nah" and mean it. Every time you told another person they are something negative in order to defend or bolster yourself. Find every time somebody called you out on something that was false and tell it "nuh uh." It may be tricky to get all of it as some of it may be behind repressed memories.

Well, the psychological establishment and the military. The psychological establishment covers a lot up but the military knows at this point they can't release proper psychology.

@Jordan Awakening is the realization that you, as God, are imagining yourself. Not the ego. God! God imagines you. This makes no sense logically. It’s not something that a finite self can grasp. Awakening is necessary to grasp this. See the problem with trying to figure this out rationally?

God is in love with all of its creation.

Ahh I keep hearing what awakening is then forgetting the answer to what it is. Thanks for explaining it to me again. I guess to associate or disassociate with something you would need to assume you are a thing which is not ultimately true. Even though there may not be a step by step process of awakening, I still am drawn towards associating with all parts of experience because it seems to be better than disassociating. I guess that duality can be seen through by going more meta to see what is going on there.

The ego isn't something real To Be surrendered.

It's often referred to as a self illusion.

It's a self referential mental identification, a conglomeration of past/present/future memories and thoughts, beliefs, belief systems, concepts.......basically whatever seems to arise when asked to think about and/or describe yourself.

It's not surrendered, killed or transcended either.

It's simply recognized to be an unreal identification made of absolutely nothing. That's why the word "illusion" fits rather well.

There's nobody running the body currently, it just seems like there is.

The body already functions just fine. It knows where it lives, turns it's head if its name is called, has preferences and jumps out of the way of a moving bus, all by itself and prior to thinking.

Nobody comes out on the other side egoless and enlightened.

Nobody wakes up.

Nobody attains liberation.

It's not what "you" thinks it is
