how much does IQ matter

I swear yall overestimate the difficulty of math. Sure rocket science might not be the best example, but you dont have to be a genius to do introduction level calculus.

@Sandroew Math is not that hard especially Calculus. People get lost in the crazy long equations which makes it seem more nebulous than it is conceptually.

Hard to say because I don't have much experience with IQ tests.

I know a person can develop intelligence, which is different from increasing IQ.

So a person can develop "intelligence" -- wisdom and knowledge -- but IQ is fixed. Is this an accurate explanation of your position?

Do you think that G is the same thing as the raw capacity to understand reality, meaning someone's spiritual abilities are capped by it?

Less than ever with AI being able to do the heavy lifting for us though. Still helps in deconstructing complex topics though but before there were many jobs that low IQ people couldn't do for complexity based reasons.

IQ is a few variables in a much larger picture. You have to look at configurations.

  • Raw processing variables (what IQ primarily captures)
    • Working memory capacity
    • Processing speed
    • Fluid reasoning / abstraction capacity
  • Drive and orientation variables (what points the processing power)
    • Need for cognition
    • Systemizing drive
    • Metacognitive access
    • Epistemic drive
  • Retrieval and processing style
    • Linear vs. associative retrieval
    • Convergent vs. divergent processing
    • Receptive vs. acquisitive integration
  • Epistemic and emotional variables
    • Need for closure / comfort with ambiguity
    • Openness to revision
    • Intellectual honesty / epistemic humility
    • Emotional integration
    • Frustration tolerance
  • Structural and contextual variables
    • Crystallized knowledge base
    • Domain breadth vs. depth
    • Self-regulatory capacity
    • Sensitivity to salience
    • Social and environmental context

Ben Shapiro has a high IQ, but it usually doesn't convert to intelligence for various reasons. "What is perception oriented toward in the first place?" determines a lot about how intelligence shows up and the particular shape of it.

What if this is just fascination + identity + seriousness being inflated into universal importance?

@Joshe That looks badass indeed

Thanks! I'll share it if I ever complete it and remove all my personal info from it.

That's not exactly my position.

I think IQ can probably be developed too. Although science might claim otherwise.

That's hard to say. I don't know exactly how science defines g. They probably define it too narrowly, so it isn't the final measure of stuff like understanding.

This is anecdotal but I consistently scored around 125-128 on IQ tests when I was 18 before I had taken psychedelics. I recently tested myself after 50ish trips and this time I got a 134. This could just be due to my brain maturing or reading a lot of books, but I like to think there could be some correlation.

^^^ This guy also has an interesting channel on the subject of IQ development

There is no doubt that learning all the stuff I teach will significantly raise your intelligence. Not IQ but Intelligence.

Humanity has no idea what Intelligence even is. But I do. Not perfectly, but more than anything science understands.

Intelligence requires mastering and jailbreaking your own mind. Intelligence is when the mind sees through its own imaginary finite limits.

Imagine becoming so intelligent that you figure out that you are imagining birth and death. That's the true measure of Intelligence. Not these silly little IQ tests invented by scientific fools.

It has to matter a little bit. If you fail an iq test and have 0 iq that means you are too stupid to understand what a test is.

And is it worth taking an IQ test?

I wanna take it one day to jailbreak a high score, just for the sake of it. I find it interesting to enter into Mensa, maybe I meet some intelligent individuals there.

God-Realize, this is First Business. Know that unless I live properly, this is not possible.

There is this body, I should know the requirements of my body. This is first duty.  We have obligations towards others, loved ones, family, society, etc. Without material wealth we cannot do these things, for that a professional duty.

There is Mind; mind is tricky. Its higher nature should be nurtured, then Mind becomes Wise, Virtuous and AWAKE. When all Duties are continuously fulfilled, then life becomes steady. In this steady life GOD is available; via 5-MeO-DMT, because The Sun shines through All: Living in Self-Love, Realizing I am Infinity & I am God

The more someone trumpets his IQ score, the less intelligence I see in him.

Like Chris Langan. "World's highest IQ", but still a Trump supporter. That shows you just how little IQ is worth in the real world.

IQ makes you feel smart on paper but foolish in practice, as ego will co-opt that IQ against you. There are some forms of stupidity exclusive to high IQ people.
