Owen Cook hasnt been sick in 15 years. BS?

9 posts in this topic

Owen has been saying this forever now! I personally always thought it was BS, but then wondered how come no one from his team or coaches has ever even rolled an eye at such a statement.

It sounds to me like this is a cult psychological tactic to brand himself as a leader with hidden powers, as cult leaders tend to do, without being too "out there" with it.

Thoughts?

Obvious bs

Or so intoxicated by self-help swagger and green juice he doesn't even realize he's been sick

I saw a video of him limping around on crutches like two years ago. Guess that doesn’t count?

He means the common cold or flu. Could be true. But that is not his doing, he has good genetics for that sort of robustness.

He speaks about it with real pride, like his mushroom supplements have made him invincible and like it will work for everyone. This part is self-deception.

People have very different immune systems and it is largely out of your control.

Covid killed pleny of perfectly healthy people just by bad luck.

When would you make video about genetics or blackpill? I`m very curious how much of genetics determines our life.

Could be a 5 second video.

You're a leaf in the wind, deal with it.

@Zenterus this is perfectly normal when we subtract everything that we do to create abnormal conditions we expect our bodies to just adapt to (ego compulsions, unhealthy diets, trauma, addiction to mindless entertainment).

The abnormalities, create lack of existential alignment which feeds further abnormal behaviours that then feeds the individual, and the compass of humanity in generality through worsening incentive structures where those abnormalities are seen as a trend to cash in on rather than heal.

There are no special powers here, there is the financial capital, social network and the long standing healthy habits. Notice how he said the last 15 years and not his his whole life. Micro-decisions take half that to compound into that long term outcome. Start today but as implied by @Leo Gura's statement, compare yourself to your average cow first before you have the proper experimentations.

On a personal note, I have made many unhealthy emotional decisions in my life, which I and many people unintentionally learn, to program our cells to become unhealthy. This feedback loop can become uglier and uglier. It is very wise to intervene immediately but extremely slowly as a proper balance.

For deeper scientific grounding, Elizabeth Blackburn and Elissa Epel’s The Telomere Effect shows how chronic stress, emotional patterns and lifestyle can shape cellular ageing and biological repair over time for example. Another, one of my favourite behavioral scientists, Robert Sapolsky’s, Why Zebras Don’t Get Ulcers explains how repeated psychological stress keeps the body’s stress systems activated until adaptation itself becomes wear. Together, they justify treating emotional habits not as private moods but rather, a cellular training ground.

I can sort of see this. I get sick with cold or whatever less than once a year. 15 years is a bit of a stretch though. And of course you might be infected but show no or very minor symptoms. And people have various tolerances for what the deem being sick.

The future can be real. The future can be again.
