I find it odd how cavalier Europeans are on the Iran issue. Iran can reach Europe with it's missiles, and surely would strike Europe in the event of a war.

And why they are closer to do it? Because of not wanting to let go the illusion? Survival? Whitesupremacy or Whiteness?because to admit it would imply that they would need to change their ways, their lifestyles. Why someone would stubornly stand for  Monster after all the evidence that he is a Monster?

Because facts don't change minds. That's not how Cults work. Their minds are programmed to not think for themselves and to reject any evidence from the outside world.

Cult College on YouTube is a good resource for understanding MAGA, from someone who grew up in one of these authoritarian cults.

We tend to emphasize metarationality and other ways of knowing so much in a space like this, it can be easy to forget that a large proportion of everyday people lack even basic critical thinking skills.

Tragedy of the commons. When there is dysfunction in the system, they'll vote in populists who are only there for self-serving reasons and are going to make things worse. Then they'll repeat that pattern ad naseum till we no longer have a democracy.

If the issue is a sense of agency in the electorate then the solution is to somehow find a way to make the electorate feel a sense of agency again within the democratic system. That would involve reinventing our way of centrist technocracy.
