Semen retention regulation

12 posts in this topic

For people who do semen retention, what do you find is the optimal amount of time to go for before ejaculating? In terms of having the most energy, boosting testosterone, wellbeing and confidence.

The most I have retained for is 101 days, I was doing 3 months regularly, and after ejaculating I would feel better for a few days after, same thing happened when I regulated to 2 months. Also tried 6 weeks recently and didn't notice any difference.

Semen retention, celibacy, ect... these sort of things cannot be mentally decided, rather they come naturally, without question, with the knowingness and wisdom behind it. Its a spiritual realization, not a mental idea to achieve physical or spiritual results. Trying to control nature is the problem with modern humans. We are not living naturally, rather mentally, so we suffer and end up in never-ending cycles.

For example, many who do semen retention end up having wet dreams often because they are forcing something un-natural to happen, and when the wet-dream occurs, it is no different on the body/mind than releasing by ejaculation, so there's your "streak" out the window.

There is no fixed/time and rule, you just follow your true nature, follow your inner-being, if a woman comes and love is rising, and it feels right on all levels, you make love, you don't hold back, and when you feel a deep purification path, fasting and solitude, naturally you will not feel like sex or ejaculation or even focusing on those things.

I used to think like you too when I was younger, but I realized none of it truly matters and trying to control this or master that only makes things worse and goes against the current or flow of nature, yet when you surrender more and release control, you find perfect flow with creation.

1 week plus or minus a few days, depends on how young you are and levels of restfulness. Longer than that and you'll start to transmutate and testosterone drops, you might get sleeping problems, physical tightness, restlessness or other instability. If you transmute well, it's good for spiritual energy, but in that case, for the sake of health, one month is probably perfect.

It's funny because if I say I take cocaine to be more energetic, I'll be told it's bad, even neurotoxic.

But if I induce manic behavior by depriving myself of orgasms, often to maintain a pathetic lifestyle/belief system, I'll be told that's bad too. Always this good old masochism.

Balance is key . It's really not good to just cum every other day .you will feel depleted. Also its not really good to walk around with blue balls and have nothing in your mind other than sex.

Sexual energy is life force . Treat it wise .know when to release and when to channel it into other activities. There is no specific rate you should follow .it depends on your hormones ..diet ..lifestyle etc.

Pretty sure Mantak Chia teaches like 7 to 14 days.

I do think that there is merit to semen retention… at least, and especially because most people don’t have the big and little draw technique. There is a way to orgasm which I’ve had some experience where to can orgasm and it’s more full body leaving you feel nourhsied and clean.

I know from experience orgasm can, not always though, leave me feeling a bit flat or drained. I suspect the ancient Toaist view of using sexual energy plays a role in Qigong and Yoga practice. But, never orgasming or limiting it to huge lengths I suspect is not useful.

I've been experimenting with it for years with trial & error, the most I had was 93 days or so. What helped me was that I stopped counting the days and felt a genuine disgust towards the practice back then.

It's great but don't think of it as an all-in-one card. SR by itself may cause unintentional issues like insomnia, irritability, agression (it did for me at least) especially if you don't do anything with the additional energy you build. Meditation and other means of transmutation help a lot. Take care of yourself and your life as well along the ride.

I'm on a track to go far with it once more, after months of negligence. It also helps me indirectly, by allowing me to face my demons over time.

EDIT: To answer your question, it's entirely individual. Some people can go far without issues, while others build so much energy they can't do anything with it. It just explodes in one form or another.

Yes, it all depends how you naturally channel out sexual energy. What Norbert said about insomnia, irritability, aggression is true.

Inability to channel sexual energy or getting aroused and not delivering afterwards can lead to blue-balls or energy build up.

Stretching, exercise and cold showers can help, but the point is to follow what feels natural for your body and stop trying to use your mind to try to control the body, because nature is not something that you can control, rather you need to learn to allow nature to flow through you. This is the Tao in a nutshell, effortless living.

Eventually you will find the balance, and when you have stabilized your mind and body, your sexual energy circulates well, then you will get aroused at will and not in uncontrolled way. You wont  need to masturbate, you won't have wet dreams, you will make love when its truly needed.

Focus on "needs" not desires and life becomes a lot simpler.

What semen retention does well is to remove habitual masturbation that is not as much grounded in energy. Many people simply have built up a habit to masturbate daily, even if it becomes a task and is only slightly pleasurable. Rewiring those habits to coincide with when you're at maximal levels of energy (which I suggested is usually around 1 week) is a reasonable and arguably generally much healthier way (unless you are able to transmutate with little issues). Getting rid of all sense of habit is not necessarily the best solution. Some regularity can be beneficial.
