@zazen Haha..imagine if the US was a dictatorship...:)

Imagine if they were a democracy.

The lines seem to blur as I listened to his description.  We sbow all the signs of a dictatorship under the mask of a democracy.

You can't be serious, right? Who is screwed? Who does this actually affect? The farmers in Mississipi?

Granted I'm a dumbass teenager without so much a metric droplet of experience in the world, but I have YET to meet a single human ACTUALLY AFFECTED by the shit that happens in government/politics/politicies/election/bills/etc...

Like, if you're concerned abt the average farmer lowerclass man, I get it, but whadyamean when you say "we're all screwed?" Are we?

I personally could give a fuck about this bill as my personal freedoms are seemingly untouched & can still go about my day as usual or get a job if I so please...

Does this make me an uncompassionate selfish dickhead? Genuinely interested to hear abt why people even care abt this political noise...? Isn't is just that? Unless we are actually holding positions of power in government, aren't we just bullshitting around?

I mean, you look at the protesters, here in SF we had the world's largest tranny carnival in History. In the name of LGBT rights. Or protest against genocide in Gaza. Activism for veganism. Stop the Hate! Stop It NOW!

All this shit seems like a distraction-sandwhich. Like a BLTD, bacon lettuce tomato distractionator.

Bro I hear you.  You're right most of this shit never even touches us.  But I'm afraid about the medicaid cuts.  That's pretty big if peeps on medicaid start getting cut.   And I haven't seen inflation go down since Trump came into office.  It's still nasty.  So anything he puts out right now I take with a grain of salt.

Got it. There are real issues in the world.

Still, I feel a Lotta political talk goes round and round and fails to recognize itself playing out the same old tendency to say "look at how fucked up the external world is, this is fucked. We are fucked. Uh oh, civil war gonna dawn, better get your guns. Better stock up on toilet paper from Costco. In meantime, fuck Trump, stand in solidarity, better do more protest, education, harm reduction, Trump so bad, Ughhhh!"

But why? Why even bother? Don't you have a hangnail or some booger to be worrying about instead?

Bro..he's hurting everyone right now..from Musk and his businesses to the very poor.  If you can't see that I don't know how to help you. The guy was purely about power.  That was it.  Leo was correct but not for the right reasons.

I don't think I am mature enough to talk politics. Have a good day, friend.

It’s more “trickle-down” nonsense. The idea is that giving people who already have more money than God even more tax breaks, they’ll use that money to “create jobs” and “stimulate the economy.”

The problem is, you give a rich person a tax cut and they’re most likely just going to save that money, rather than actually spend it on anything useful, let alone public goods like roads, healthcare etc.

Not only that but it makes Medicaid much harder to access, putting the physical health of millions of Americans in jeopardy. Republicans are ideologically opposed to any social programs and they see it as a way to give “handouts” to “freeloaders”, rather than the basic, reasonable investments in the health of their citizens that they actually are.

It’s really bad. Who knows how this is going to play out down the line.

It doesnt, it hurts the normal average american. It benefits the elite and trumps military power.

Haha, bro, millions of people were correct. I’m not a partisan and I’ve warning about Trump since he was elected in 2016. It wasn’t some hard thing to see that you don’t put that vile and rotten of a character in the position of the presidency.

The hard thing to see was why it was so hard for millions of others to not see. It’s all understood now though. We know the psychology of the Christians, the alpha males, the libertarians, the bigots, the enlightened centrist, and many other flavors of idiocy. Trump compelled many to understand and flesh out low consciousness. This is one good thing that came from him.

I guess you don't have a vision.   There's one thing about Trump.  He's crazy lucky.  Somehow I feel the economy will end up ahead at the end of all this and we'll just have to reverse some of his dictator like policies.  Fine.  The question is - is there a Democrat that's going to step up and what are they going to do to improve the life for the average middle class American?  The keep us out of wars part is clear...and the wall..well...I think they should build on not letting just anyone in.  But what about the economy.   What will they do to make things more affordable?

Mamdani is already a step in the right direction, there'll probably be more Mamdanis popping up soon.

Some of you on here may hate me for saying this, but now that I've looked into this One Big Betrayal Bill more in-depth, there's actually ONE other good thing that came from it besides the extension of the middle class tax cuts, and that is the historic funding for updating our immigration enforcement and border security. I didn't think that Trump and enough Republicans in Congress were serious about that. I thought they were all bark and no bite on that matter because they never really addressed it during Trump's first term despite all of their blustering about it back then, the small amount of legislative accomplishments even when the Trump and his party had both Congress and the presidency from 2017-2019, and Trump's incompetence.

To be clear, this bill went from one extreme to another. The amount of funding the bill will provide to ICE was definitely overdone. More likely than not more people in America including many immigrants, are going to suffer such unimaginable horrors and such inhumane treatment. If such negative effects occur from the bill pertaining to immigration and border security, which again, is probably is going to happen, then I really hope that Trump and his party all pay a truly major political price for it this year, 2026, 2027, and 2028.

However, a lot of the border-related stuff that was in the bill was needed given how outdated the infrastructure for our border security and immigrant enforcement was almost 2 decades.

@Hardkill

They won't pay as much of a price, because they are intentionally deporting Democratic voters, and potential democratic voters. This is part of their calculation in going after brown and Black people, taking out their political opponents. Rule 101 of the fascist playbook.

Independent voters will hate it too if it gets too revolting. Moreover, if this angers enough Democratic voters, then it probably will fire up the Democratic base.

Also, how are they really going to know which ones are Democratic voters?

Even though Democratic candidates win about 85-90% of black voters and the majority of Latino voters in elections, many black and brown people in America are conservative leaning because of how traditional their backgrounds are. In fact, almost half of Latino voters in America voted for Trump in 2024.

So, we'll see.

So, we'll see.

1) That's simple. Target democratic states.

2) Check their political history. - As a country you are one step away from this, and already deporting people critical of Israel, for example, or refusing entry for making silly political memes.

Fascists are generally not the most intelligent people, because they just buy into the ideology for vibes, short-term self-interest, ignorance etc. There are exceptions, of course. So perhaps it is just going to be blanket deportations but I tend to doubt it. I think what you'll see is conservative farming states for example, not being targeted as much because of their pushback, and metropolitan democratic cities getting hit hard.
