How to stop thinking?

14 posts in this topic

I don't want to think any more. Not only I think, but I overthink. Thinking only lead to paradoxes and suffering. I don't want to contemplate ever again. I don't care about enlightment and knowing reality any more, it just makes things worse. I only want to act and enjoy. Does focusing on breath on the moment like meditation destroys thinking activity?

I am thinking of having only 1 relaxing and inspiring visualazation thought and focusing on breath. I want to be on a state of not thinking to a ridiculus level. I came to hate thought so much like never before. My mind ruminates all the time, it destroys me. I can't enjoy life anymore cause my mind is thinking daily stuff or spiritual stuff all the time, I have lost control.

I hate thinking, it's the worse activity ever. Any idea what to do?

1) Focus on doing something.

2) Take a break, relax, do something pleasant.

Hands off the keyboard. You are putting inputs in without realizing it.

You cant stop thinking.

You have to live life as a dream that means no planning. If you want to go to the store you arent going to go to the store soon you arent ever going to the store until you go to the store. Ignore all people, people make you interact with your mind way more. Ignore women stop checking women out.

If they talk to you they talk to you.

You are putting the mind down not stopping it.

Or you can start hyper thinking about everything in your field at all times but its way harder cause its too easy to drift off into past or future.

Your mind will think, what you are trying to do is let it think without touching it. Its very hard to do because we have been brainwashed into policing the mind.

If you stop policing the mind and let it think of whatever it wants without interacting (it will get raunchy and weird) you will disassociate from it. You want to notice when you(the thing reacting to mind) ,interrupts the mind.

Sometimes it's the journey itself that teaches/ A lot about the destination not aware of/No matter how far/
How you go/How long it may last/Venture life, burn your dread

Focus on positive thoughts like hope, happy memories and whatever you like about life. Negative thoughts will destroy you and are a waste of time.

If you kept picking apples from a tree and I said stop picking the apples from off the tree, would you need someone to tell you how to stop picking apples off the tree? No, because you're the one picking apples in the first place so you know how to stop.

You are not the thinker of thoughts or else you would know how to stop thinking.

Thoughts arise from attachments and "shoulds". Sit in meditation, identify what those shoulds are and if they are necessary or if there is a better alternative for each (it's often the most obvious thing and something you are actively trying to resist or ignore). Feel the emotions they are bringing up, feel where they are in the body (the throat, the heart, the stomach, the face, the head), and when you have decided that they are not necessary, let go. Accept, tell yourself that it's ok.

If you want to be completely free of thoughts, you have to eventually let go of all attachments and realize that nothing that ever happens "should" happen or is necessary to happen and that you want to relinquish all control over anything in your life. You're fine with whatever that happens or can happen. You are completely open and free and embracing of what reality is and will be and has ever been. This is Enlightenment.

Try wiggling your toes to be more present. If you are more present it is easier to break the chain reaction of your thoughts causing you to feel bad.

You have to recognize that thoughts themselves aren't real even though they can effect your mood and actions.

Observe thoughts.
Observe space.
Return to focus on breathing or a single simple thing which has no complexity.
Return to focusing on nothing. Don't fight thoughts, let them come and sometimes choose to focus on space, sometimes to observe the thought - then you have the essence and balance of human experience.

I would describe it something between a skill and a muscle, part of you regulating your state or just returning to what you are naturally.

Its also why I fundamentally disagree with Leo that the universe dies when the mind dies, because the universe doesn't exist, only this does and you can be it anytime.

You don't escape thoughts, you just make them beautiful enough that you no longer want to! :x

@Never_give_up Have you tried seeing a psychiatrist, this seems like a mental illness from my experience. Thinking should never be painful unless you have a mental illness.

You gotta do HIT exercise every morning

Vitamin deficiency like a lack of vitamin D causes a chaotic mental state,

Your mental state is built by many factors all coming together and you have to create a routine that brings all of these factors together at the same time.

The biggest misconception in our culture is everything is in your head.

This is of course even stronger in spiritual communities you cannot meditate your biological problems away.

Do not compare yourself to monks who meditate 24 hours a day, they just have premium biology.

How is this post just me acting out my ego in the usual ways? Is this post just me venting and justifying my selfishness? Are the things you are posting in alignment with principles of higher consciousness and higher stages of ego development? Are you acting in a mature or immature way? Are you being selfish or selfless in your communication? Are you acting like a monkey or like a God-like being?
