Should I join the military?

21 posts in this topic

I have lots of proplems with my career and  college .i think I will join the military soon after graduation before even getting a job or getting married. I need some tough time to make me stronger as a man.thats just what i believe. The military is not bad for us (men)..i think every man should join it..it will make us more masculine and tough and more able to stand for ourselves in this tough world. No wonder why guys nowadays are losers.  ofcourse this is not nessciarly our faults as individuals but the whole luxurious society when a guy sits on his ass all day eating doretos and drinking fanta and jerking off to porn like a little bitch in his mom's basement ..this kind of  guy can't deal with tough reality when shit hits the fan..can't take responsibility for himself..let alone taking responsibility for a family(wife and kids). I feel like I need to join the military to get the necessary shock of struggle so i can become more of mature and strong man . But at the same time I'm kinda pussying about it because I want to live freely not doing any restrict tough daily  routine . So I'm not sure what's the right decision here .

It might be a good option because you can also get the GI bill afterwards if you want to go to school later on  but you have to be really want to be in the military because some people love and some people hate it.
I’m guessing you are in your early 20s correct?

Are you in the US? If yes then I recommend looking on the military subReddit and ask there to get answers from actual people in the military to see what it’s like or read more about what it’s like to be in the military online and then decide for yourself.
there are pros and cons for everything.

best of luck to you.

Don’t u live in India? Isn’t there about huge war brewing between Pakistan and u guys? Idk your feelings on it, but I would try to avoid something like dying for stage blue nationalism.

there are better ways of “becoming a man” than joining the military and following orders like an automaton.

Just my opinion tho. it can be a formative life experience.

You can take responsibility for your life without joining the military unless you are extremely lazy or you want to be told what to do like a robot.

You can also play a team sport.
The most manly men I met except the soldier were rugby players, in different ways.
I'd actually like to try rugby next year; it sounds fun.

I've tried boxing but didn't enjoyed that much.

I used to think this way but the truth is the amount of leverage you get from joining the military is very high.

- Strongest network that supports the hell out of each other probably beats being in a top state school

- If you sustain permanent injury or something major (which is highly likely) you get medical and a few thousand dollars each month which covers living expenses + whatever job you have when you get out.

Personally I think I regret not doing it. But it is definitely not my vibe. Im also ADHD so maybe that's why I struggle to build my life up.

- But personally I think getting education for free via military is dumb. You can easily pay this off with a good job or find ways to not get loans while in school if youre smart.

If you join and your country goes to war you are guranteed fighting in it. Its probably very good for structure but its structure through abuse. It will suck for awhile and then you will begin to like it I think is what happens.

I don't think now is a great time to join any military, you'll probably get deployed and die over the next few years. Plenty of other ways to build discipline apart from signing up to go shoot other clueless dudes. The whole military complex is a catastrophe to our civilizations IMO, the sooner it collapses the better we'll all be.

I just want to stay away from society and people. Most people if not all of them are ignorant. Honestly It does feel that expectations from society nowadays are too high. I also find myself exhausted and longing for an extended periods of isolation.

camping sounds heavenly to me right now  I have also realised that a lot of the times I put a lot of expectations on myself and have realised the only way that I can deal with this is by putting very specific boundaries in place.. including my sleeping times. Quitting society is not always a possibility but if we are able to make time for ourselves somewhere during the week just to read.. sleep or do that fun thing that we have been wanting to do for ages..then I really do believe we can make it through these difficult times.o. ne day at a time. If anyone experienced with van life or living as a drop out have some info.. Please share. Of course the first concerns is how to survive.. Unless you have stable access to food and shelter etc.

Not saying I want to be homeless but I just want a cave life . A raw life .something different from zombie land called modern society.

Most people are nice and just want to have a good time with you if possible.
The potential problem is finding compatible people.

At least, that's how it is in my world.

The military is largely a scam to make money for defense contractors, why would you want this scam to be your master and turn yourself into government property?

The army serves to protect national interests.
Right now, the French army is deployed in several countries, particularly in Africa, to combat terrorist groups hostile to my country.

Weapons are also being sent to Ukraine.
