Tension release

10 posts in this topic

@Growly Feel the body, allow it to be there completely, practice deep and slow breaths from the belly, relax your body. Dedicate half an hour to this practice and it should help.

Tension in face can be a result from tension in upper body. Which can be a result of bad posture, or something wrong in the curvature of the spine (like I have). Tension in jaw specifically can be due to stress and tensing the jaw, or clenching teeth.

My best tips are to fix posture, and hang upside down. I promised you if you hang upside down you will feel a release like you’ve never felt before in your entire upper body. You could also strengthen muscles that are weaker, like upper back. Also doing cardio and getting warm and sweaty can help “soften” the muscles

You can practice relaxing the whole body using guided body scan meditations that also include guided relaxation. You donèt need to spend a lot of time on each area. Relax the jaw, for example, and the eye brows. Then scan through the body and relax other areas. Then, come back to the jaw and eye brows a later in the meditation and you notice they are tight again.

You can focus on one area, and really imagine it melting, softening, turning into sand, or dust. Ice melting away.

I would consider doing some in person stuff too like:

1. Shiatsu Massage

2. Standard forms of massage

3. Floatation tanks

4. Yoga, Qigong and other forms of relaxation and stretching

5. Physio...

@Thought Art when i focus on jaw for instance I feel so much tension and if I start to focus more on it, it starts to shake.

Is that productive to do? To give full attention to jaw and hold it for a long time??

@Growly Attention is just that... Attention. If you wanna soften it, you can gently massage it. Then, relax the jaw. If you wanna relax it, relax.

Can you make a fist and squeeze it? And, can you then relax your hand?

Now, do that do your jaw until you start to figure out what relaxing feels like.

Relax.

@UnbornTao but do i hard focus on the area or gently? Which is more efficient?

Stop thinking all the time and just relax, calm down, exercise, meditate.
