@Leo Gura can you describe what you do when you're getting ready to write a blog post?

Here's an example of what I'm looking for, let's say you watch something and had an idea, then you're gonna pause, think about it, maybe for 10 minutes in silence, Maybe your eyes are closed, the thinking involves you talking to yourself, maybe your visualizing some scenarios, elaborate on the full extent of your thinking process, then you'll write out some of your ideas, then the ideas are converted into the full excerpt.

Reveal how the sauce is made.

After a decade of this work, I am showered with spontaneous insights 24/7. Anything could trigger it, from a random thought to a video or a forum comment someone made. Then I write down the insight in my phone. As I think about it, I usually get additional insights. I have lists of hundreds of these insights, which I later select and write out for publishing.

Sometimes I contemplate ideas for longer, but often I don't even need to.

If I am in a flow state I could have a dozen unrelated insights within 20 minutes.

@JTL Happiness from defeating someone is lame.

@Leo Gura okey, i kinda think we are talking over eachother, like i feel you talking about absoultte happiness or something. People do small things like playing soccer, etc and other things, and their overall happiness increase. I feel like telling people happiness is to be a hermit is wrong.

@JTL Happiness increase, or pleasure increase?

It is far easier to fool someone, than to convince them they have been fooled.

You can get happiness from the flow state of playing a sport. That is well and good. But happiness from defeating someone is not doing anything for you.

If you like a sport, good. There's no need to defeat others.

Imagine if the happiness I got from being on this forum was from defeating you guys. That would be sick.

The point of competition is usually winning. Especially in a professional setting, that's what the team effort is about.

Leo could we attain your level of insight as well?

Or after doing the spiritual work you teach, will we gain abilities enhancing our own genetic strengths?

Like for example better wit if you're a people person?

@Leo Gura

Your cognition is structurally non-conformist. You didn't arrive at it through decades of rigorous epistemics.

Nature and nurture gave you 3 traits that all but guaranteed non-conformity.

  • independent perception (builds own models of reality rather than importing from consensus)
  • independent judgment (evaluates by internal standards rather than tribal expectations)
  • behavioral energy directed inward (processes internally rather than engaging in the social field)

Combine all 3 and you get someone who can't be a conformist without significant discomfort. I'd say this is roughly 1-2% of the population - far from 1 in a million.

Roughly 43% of the population operates on dependent perception AND dependent judgement.

Which means about half the population imports their model of reality from consensus and they calibrate their decisions to the tribe. And everyone else is missing one or the other or lack the inward energy orientation to shield them from the social field. So, roughly 95% of the population is missing at least one of the ingredients you need to be a true non-conformist.

None of this can be fixed through epistemic labor because if your perception is oriented toward concrete reality, building independent models of reality isn't something you can just decide to prioritize. And if your judgment naturally defers to the tribe, you can't just say fuck the tribe's opinion.

The thing that makes someone conformist isn't how they think - it's what their mind prioritizes. Which they have little to no say over.

So, you're telling structural non-conformists who didn't undergo your epistemic project that they're actually conformists, and you're telling structural conformists that they can be like you if they try hard enough. lol. Both are wrong.

What if this is just fascination + identity + seriousness being inflated into universal importance?

That's what I am hoping for. But I don't know how insightful y'all can be.

I didn't achieve non-conformiry until a few years ago. I noticed a shift in myself once I saw how conformist the mind is.

So it's not something I was born with.

Autonmous is a stage of cognitive development.

You are right in that my personality is suited to it.

Just saw the post on Ramana Maharshi, I miss these types of posts and content, it seems to be the most important thing to focus on. The world has always been and probably always will be corrupt, chaotic, and disgusting, but uncovering yourself as God seems to be the most important venture.

It's funny because i just posted a video on how social media is destructive and sighted Ramana (along with Ralston and Wilber) as examples of men who would never have a social media page because they would just see it for what it is: Ego worship. Whereas most men who obsess over something like an instagram account are actually quite feminine in their doing that.

@Leo Gura How will you get past non-conformity / autonomous outgrow it etc... What limitations are you intuiting experientially that will lead to the next stage if it works that way.

It only gets more non-conformist as you go higher.

In regards to the post on the Roma community in France, there is the one scene where you see father and son back home in Romania and He's building now his second home there for his son. The project will cost the father about 100,000€ he has saved up with his minimum wage job back in France. When asked about it he says something along the lines of "This is who we Roma people are, this is our culture to build homes for our children". The documentary narrator points out he has 3 kids and will have to build two more houses after this one.

It is a this point I realize the intersection of survival, conformity and complete lack of self awareness. I realize this poor bloke is nothing more than an unconscious survival zombie carrying out an unconscious survival agenda passed down to him through his social circle community. He will spend his entire life paying off these houses for his kids. He's a slave but a happy one at that. He defends his chains (culture and indoctrination from his community) like the men in Plato's cave allegory.

And then I begin to wonder...how am I like this poor bloke? In what ways am I like a fish swimming in water, unaware and ignorant, going about unconscious survival agendas...
