@Majed I read like the first 30 pages or so of the bible, I really tried to read it, but I couldn't, they kept talking about hell and it felt like I was reading the most toxic news channel or something.

As a kid mostly surrounded by Christians and went to church (not of my own volition), I'm glad that I haven't taken Christianity too seriously and I never read the Bible.

I had the intuition that those people are being conformist about it as they treat some words as the truth over experience. Why should I read some stories about God?

I felt that if something is true it cannot be dependent on the Bible.

My hatred of reading books came from observing how Christians are eager to worship their stories.

I'm an alien around where I live.

Peter Ralston’s The Book Of Not-Knowing is worth 100 Bibles. But no one even knows it exists. That’s how dumb humanity is.

You should see his latest book ;)

Great post man! My father used to tell me to read the Gospels to understand God, and I always refused because it didn't make sense to me how God was to be understood by reading stories of Jesus.

And the mental gymnastics that Christians go through to defend facts from the Bible and portray them as literal truths like Earth being 5000 years old and Noah's ark being real, is so funny. As if Christian God's existence depends on those facts being historically accurate.

There was a literature professor in my university that made us do Christian prayer for the exam and our grades depended on how authentically we prayed. 🤣

I know the Quran was written by Muhammad and that I don’t believe it is the direct word of God, as it claims to be. Nevertheless, there is something about the Arabic recitation of the Quran it feels  like a drug for the soul. That is one of the reasons I continue to read it.

One of the key differences I see between the Bible and the Quran is their approach to storytelling. The Bible often spends considerable time on detailed narratives, genealogies, historical events, and other minutiae, whereas the Quran tends to be more direct and focused on spiritual and theological concepts. It still copy pastes stories the Bible lolz.

That said, both contain moral laws that can be viewed as barbaric by modern standards, as well as passages that appear to contain scientific errors and encouraging violence which is obviously outdated.

“God is the Alpha Omega .. the beginning-less  beginning and the endless end .
He is the first without start . He is the last without end . He is the manifest actuality ..nothing covers him . He is the most hidden essence  ..nothing can grasp him .. nothing below him or more subtle than him .The ego is the belief I’m separate from god . Because being god is too good to be true .No matter how dark it gets or difficult it gets ..no matter how long it is going to take .. my destiny is the infinite happiness and infinite joy and love as the best thing ever ..God .  “

-that’s a me .

Almost forgot that at school we used to recite prayers from the Quran, Coptic Christian, and Orthodox Christian traditions before beginning literature or religious classes.

😁

There is a comedy sketch in which an old lady and a businessman are praying. The old lady prays to God to give her some money and the businessman prays to God to give him an expensive car. Both are praying so hard that the businessman gets annoyed with the old lady and gives her the amount of money she wanted. 😂

I plan to read a different book from Marx.

May I please ask which book? I've personally only read the following;

The last three on this list were from this edition:

@Husseinisdoingfine German Ideology

I think that overlaps with Feuerbach. Not sure.

You a Marxist?

@Leo Gura

I am not a Marxist because I view Marx's analysis of the progression of history as too materialistic and doesn't take into account how ideas are important in the shaping of culture and governments.

Furthermore, I agree more with Max Weber's rebuttal of Marx. Read, The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism, by Weber.

But, I think Karl Marx's historical analysis has some truth to it and is not completely wrong. But it leads to him making incredibly foolish analyses of other countries class structures. Labeling the Indian caste system as the "Asiatic mode of production", mistaking it as a mere replica of European feudalism or as a mere economic structure.

But the Brahmin class of Indian society was a class without any wealth, it was purely a religious authority. Marx refuses to take off his Western minded materialist lens and look at these societies and their structures as for what they really were, which were religious orders. Everything is the cause of or caused by material conditions for the purpose of economic production.

But, Das Kapital Vol. 1 was one of the most profound books I have ever read in my life. It took Marx and Engels 10 - 15 years to complete volume 1, and just reading it alone, the effort really shows.

Ignorance of a thing is not a higher perspective! At the same time, I can see how education can show you what is and isn’t worth reading and without cultural significance the bible isn’t that valuable. I’ve met assholes who study the bible lol There are better books and the minds stuck on the bible are self decieved and myopic.

Even with your deep understanding of God I think there is wisdom in Islamic scholarship and in the Quaran.

Personally, I’ll never read these books either. But, I have this audiobook on Islam that’s essentially multifaith which for me was inspiring as I compared it to my trips, actualized, etc… To me this book brought a higher perspective on Islam where my mind goes meta and I see in it something profound.

Oddly enough I felt connected to God in a sober state from this Islamic audiobook, it was profound. Does that mean anything? I am contemplating. A good feeling doesn’t mean it’s true

I can’t really articulate my point. I don’t really care about the text or the religion as a whole. But, I see truth and wisdom in it. Both in my own life and, especially for ancient man.

There is just something rubbing me the wrong way about what you say. I am not a religious person so I guess I am biased in a weird way of finding gems where I find them.

There is something in the core of Islam I feel, is very true… but I can’t articulate it you gotta get the insight I had. If Islam wasn’t Islam there is something I see.

“Notice, the only reason those books are deemed important is conformity and cultural narcissism. There is no other reason. The only reason humans think those books are important is because everyone else does.”

There is both truth and falsehood in this imo. I’ll contemplate this.

There is some form of integral meta theory framed cognition that could be applied to all of these texts, combined with awakening and deep epistemics and holistic view where a new “True” religion could be formed. There are things stated in Islam which will be also stated in a book 4000 years from now and much which would be discarded.

I really find it cringe people at that level of sticking to the bible, as some great text, or the Quran, or the Tao te Ching. However, I personally have a Tao Te Ching which I enjoy contemplating on. But, I don’t rely on it.

I really can’t say what I’m trying to say!!

Then why need Islam?

The problem is these books are worshipped. That is unhealthy and delusional. It is idol worship.
