When suffering becomes too big to endure for most people, they will make a systemic change in the society. Suffering is the holy purifier for mankind nowadays. Modern tech and the somewhat more equitable economic system made people climb the hierarchy of needs which made them more conscious. But this apparent success is also our biggest obstacle right now. Because this comfort removed part of the struggle that pushed us to be more emotionally mature and disciplined. This affects guys disproportionately, because challenge is our main motivator. God made us in a very interesting way, we can't completely escape suffering through all these complex distractions we created. It is as God made this feature so we don't get stuck forever in this materialistic hedonistic madness we find ourselves right now.

If humanity didn’t evolve, we would still be throwing spears at each other. The reality is that humans today show much higher degree of empathy than thousands of years ago.

We will evolve, it just takes enormous amount of time, which is why it is so valuable. It’s not a bug, it’s a feature.

Regarding the Faberge art post, how is creating luxury for the rich and powerful a better thing to do then being employed?

I get that you work for the devil to some degree when you are employed but how is creating luxury any better? -- in my mind thats just you chosing to be the devil yourself.
