Leo, how has your understanding of Evolution evolved?

In a recent video you explained that the lens of evolution was limiting and once you have it you see everything evolving and this wasn't true.

I've been contemplating since then on evolution and contrasting it with my perfection Awakenings on the nature of Reality. Would you mind sharing how your views have changed on evolution ? What are the limitations of evolution?

Given that we understand evolution as a broad concept with many ramifications and in the big picture of things.

(Btw, I liked a lot the post. I find the construct-awareness, self explanatory, there's an Easter egg)

@Leo Gura Hey Leo, I have some questions on your latest blog post: "Start At 10% Life hack". 

I'm honestly not that interested in skipping the first 10%. 

But I'm really interested in this tactic you laid out: "I jump around and scavenge from content exactly what I need."

I've been interested in doing this for many many years, but never had the courage to commit to this strategy. 

I can see the power of it, though, now that you laid it out so starkly. 

But what about missing "really important" content in the process? Often times there is content that I read and don't realize its importance until weeks or months later. Also I don't realize its importance only until after I read the content in the first place. 

Also a lot of important content builds up on each other to lead to something emergent, and for that emergence to occur, it would require one to learn the various parts that leads to that emergence. 

From my understanding, this strategy, "I jump around and scavenge from content exactly what I need.", does have massive benefits, but also I do see some downsides. 

I also fear that I would have an incomplete understanding if I just skip around. I can imagine myself skipping around books that are just "good" or "great" but books that are "excellent" I feel that I need to consume it all. 

Also, for a lot of books, I don't know what it is at all that I'm reading, because it's so new to me, and I wouldn't even know what matters or not until I read through it, which makes it hard to just skip around. 

Lastly, does this strategy apply to online courses as well?

10% hack makes no sense, you will often miss key introductory information. If there is a intro usually you can just skip 10-30 seconds to get past it. 
 

To save time I just watch at 1.75x speed.

@Raze I was mindful this afternoon and found the little rule useful in a few occasions. It's not really about skipping 10% of all videos. It's more so that even when the intro is clearly useless, you still sit through it mindlessly. For me it sometimes is like that.

The more flexible rule here is: whenever you notice there's no info in that bit, skip it!

And even if it's that simple, it's so easy to be mindless and forget

What's really important here is 

Goal -> procure insight to achieve said goal. Everything else is a distraction

 

I remember one of my friends in school when acing exams, would never even attend lectures. He would just sift through online lectures (they were posted online) as quick as possible to get needed material and move on. 

 

The main point of this is like consumption only helps marginally when pursuing goals. Most goals require very little consumption

On Leos human rights post:

I recently got the chance to chat to a very famous human rights lawyer, and attend some talks of his in person. I was considering making a documentary with him, but that fell apart. I was a bit stunned by his epistemics.

The idea than human rights were a construct was completely unacceptable to him. Post-modernism was out of the question. Mind you this man has put a stop to many evil organisations and has helped more humans escape exploitation than I ever will, but he firmly held human rights as a universal given. As inalienable. As fundamentally real.

Unfortunately, human rights as a field will be forever limited until the constructed nature is realized. Then we are empowered to do the serious work to make the construct healthy and feed the system properly.

Even those in the top of peak of their field can have bad epistemology. That was a big insight for me.
