Interesting. I was sure there would be some studies countering this claim.

Yes, I read that in your e-book. Thanks for that btw, was very informative. :D

    loaded in salt

What are your thoughts on people not eating enough salt? (not sodium). I read some Harvard research paper time ago saying people aren't consuming enough salt, but not table salt, rather mineral-rich salts such as Pink Himalayan or sea salt.

As far as the prostate is concerned, the number 1 risk is a high-fat diet.

Does that go for healthy fats as well? Such as peanuts, extra virgin olive oil, avocadoes, etc?

If you were my client I'd definitely encourage you to cut down those eggs probably down to like 5-7 per week max :D

I was afraid of this. xD But I'd be willing for the sake of my health, and I'm always dead tired after eating eggs anyways.

The more knowledgeable I become on food the more it sounds like vegetarianism and veganism are the way. Or at least cutting radically down on animal products.

    Thanks for the detailed answer!

    I recommend steam boiling eggs.

I'd honestly rather quit them than boil them. I really love scrambled eggs. ^_^

It's different when we're talking about guns but besides guns if you're a trained martial artist you can handle most situations. Even with guns you have better ods if you're trained, especially if they're close up a Jiu jitsu /krav maga guy will spin that gun out your hand before u even notice.

I've dabbled in krav maga and could tell you there 95% chance that I won't work in a real-life situation, and BJJ won't help at all against a gun or a knife. You'd have to be special forces trained first of all to handle the pressure of the situation. Most krav maga students haven't faced a serious threat and when a life and death situation arises, they tense up and forget their training. Even a navy seal or the British SAS would have a hard time dismantling a knife attacker and certainly a gun attack. Most of them advise to let the robber get what he asks for, it's not worth the risk to fight back.

having a golf club in my van in case someone tries to break in while I'm sleeping in my van.

I'd rather opt for a large hunting knife. They're smaller and way scarier. I believe I could defend myself against a bat or a golf club by getting close after the first swing. With a large scary knife, nobody is coming near you. The idea of getting stabbed is way scarier than a bruise from a bat or a golf club.

  3. "Compared with men who rarely eat eggs, men eating even less than one egg a day appear to have twice the risk of prostate cancer progression. And, men who consume two and a half or more eggs per week—basically an egg every three days—may have an 81 percent increased risk of dying from prostate cancer."

    https://nutritionfacts.org/topics/eggs/

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5472048/#:~:text=Eggs%2Fcholine,-Few studies have&text=In the HPFS%2C men who, risk of lethal prostate cancer.

I'm currently eating about 3-4 eggs a day 7 days a week. Since it's such an easy protein addition and I really like them. Even though this research wasn't completely bulletproof, it does however hint at the direction.

Should I be considering cutting them out of my diet?  And do you guys eat eggs?

He has been too much pro-corporate for my taste to call him Yellow.

Well, that's the orange side of him as I mentioned.

In the latest 60 minutes interview he did, he sounded pretty yellow. I look at more how he thinks and articulates ideas rather than what he stood for when he was in power. There are too many forces at play to know for sure whether that's what he truly wanted or not.

He will be better than Obama I think.

Do you think this is because he's more in touch with green rather than Obama's more yellow way of looking at things? granted Obama was also orange/green in many aspects. I feel like he was quite ahead of his time in office, and he probably would've been more effective if he was in command around 2040.

I do agree that Biden will probably commence a more radical change.

  6. I've been contemplating recently if I should be attempting another Salvia 60x hit. The last time I did it I was too conservative with my dosing I feel like. I was hoping to get a peek through the door without hitting the insanity of the full Salva experience. But I feel like if I've got something left to fear then I'm not really ready for it. And I feel like I'm ready to hit a big enough dose to get the full experience Salvia has to offer. There is still a little part of me that's saying "don't be playing with fire like that", it's only until shit has hit the fan where you realize you ought to have treaded more carefully. But I'm willing to take that step...or so I think. :P

These trip reports range from so much variety sine this substance is very well known, and mainly because it's somehow legal in some U.S states which just boggles my mind. I've tried to sort the wheat from the chaff of these experiences and there seems to be a lot of potential for a good nondual trip, especially after using psychedelics a lot, so I'm quite comfy in that space and can navigate pretty well. Most reports talk about how brutal of an ego-death it causes. It's not like other psychedelics where your mind slowly untangles and the ego fades. I've heard everything from "the universe hunts you down and kills you until there's nothing left" to "FBI! open up, you are tripping!". Quite the stark contrast I'd say, lol.

Heavy Meth use though led me to blowing a window out of my own house with a shotgun and then fleeing hysterically with two imaginary women who I thought had guns were in hot pursuit. When I fired it was aimed where I thought they weren’t as a bluff shot. That didn’t seem to count for much when I was explaining it to the sheriffs department. The fact that it was two women with guns (in my imagination) may be kind of telling though,,, ???? live and learn,,,,

That's a good story for a rainy day. xD

I'm sure you don't regret any of it.

Yes, but only the spine stretches and neck streches.

Why not include a little leg and hip as well, since most of us sit so much. ;)

For everyone who does flexibility work, what do your routines look like and how long does it normally take you?

Mine can range from 30-70min; just finished an hour session right now. Really depends on the day and if I feel like my body is in the mood. I've found listening to your body to be the key factor here.

what does a more minimal but effective routine look like for general flexibility, like the biggest bang for your buck?) Since about last spring, I've been seriously wanting to add one to my fitness routine, but I find that it always tends to be the thing that gets pushed to the wayside in favour of one of the seemingly endless number of things to do (not necessarily fitness related though). I'm just not consistent enough with it.

I'm exactly the same when it comes to stretches. What I did now was I gathered a bunch of info from videos, then I just proceed to do any stretches I feel like doing, and I don't allow myself to skip more than 2 days usually. I'm probably stretching 6 days of the week, most often for 30 minutes after a workout.

If you're having a hard time sticking to it try and pick a specific time in the day where you always stretch no matter what. I feel like setting a goal is what is keeping me from procrastinating on it.

Like right now I'm kind of forcing myself to do fitness stuff just generally because I'm not really in the mood overall lately.

I understand this all too well, and usually, I have to reach a point where I'm so slumped that there's no choice but to start moving my body. You can also ask yourself why do you want to move? and whatever reason you come with, you bring that up every time you feel like you should move but can't find the willpower to do so.

You mentioned you do calisthenics (so do I!). Do you do any other type of martial arts of gymnastics type activities or did you used to? I used to do martial arts as a teenager and it's been a distant goal of mine to work on the splits since then. I was too lazy back then though; other stuff was on my radar too.

Awesome! great that there are more calisthenics folk on this forum. :D

I used to practice MMA and BJJ many years ago for some while. But I enjoy ball sports such as basketball and football (soccer) more and I've played basketball most of my life, but not for the last 5 years. I don't really have any reason for wanting to learn the splits other than it being useful in some calisthenics moves.

May I ask how long you've been doing calisthenics, and what "level" you're at?

  9. @Vxvxen Nice!

@fridjonk Stretching before puts me right into a meditative state, then I do some Kryia Yoga after the stretches.

I've not been doing my meditation practices since I started stretching so I'm looking forward to seeing the difference.

I still have to make specific flexibility goals though. Right now my main motivation is to feel looser and release tension. I'd like to open the hips more, it seems it's time to look into those splits as well ;)

Same! Front split is my new year's resolution ? What's your routine?

Don't really have any specific routine other than working on the middle split itself every other day. But I do most of the basic leg stretches daily and try and hit every muscle.

Not really, it feels too forced to me.

    how so?

    @nistake It sure is.

  10. @Average Investor Awesome! Do you notice any improvements in meditation if you stretch before vs not?

@JohnnyAb I used to use a roller as well until I got a massage gun. Those rollers are great tho, I might have to start using mine again. Feel like it digs a little deeper than the gun.

@Michael569 That's my favorite stretch! Really opens up your groin and hips. xD

@Preety_India Yeah, sometimes It's great to enjoy being a little bit of a slob in the fitness aspect. We all fall victim to that from time to time. ;)

  11. I've been stretching daily for a month now and I'm currently working on getting the middle split. I've always wanted to be able to do it but couldn't be bothered with starting it because firstly, it's really fricking painful, and secondly, it takes time. But I bit the bullet and decided to start when I started my calisthenics journey. And now I'm in love with stretching. xD

It really helps loosen any tension you have in your body whether it from sitting too much or putting a strain on your body from exercise. I do about 20-minute session after each workout and sometimes an hour before bed. I do mostly leg stretches, most of it being hip flexors and hamstrings, and middle-split I train every other day. Been kind of lazy with the upper body stretching, but will try to work on that as well. I'm also amazed with how fast I've progressed, especially in my hips and hamstrings.

I'm interested to see if any of you have any flexibility goals, or if any of you stretch or want to get into it. :D
