I decided not to watch all of it, as he blabbered for the first 30 minutes. He should have prepared better.

For the first time listener of Eric just be mindful that its not his best impression.

I'm about to watch the alien section now.

Eric clearly has a lot of inner dissonances underneath, which is precisely why he didn't prepare properly, at least that's what I am leaning towards.

That tends to be what dissonances do, its so easy to fall into the trap of either doubling down on our own assumptions or avoid facing them altogether.

From AI to Altman to peers to his own social pressures, he's dealt with it only with trying to master his cavalier self-importance when underneath Eric has a whole lot more depth than both that and what critics attack him for. 

I'm a bit worried about him, especially when he says things like "I finally have someone to talk to" (referring to AI), that was the statement that encapsulates his own personal avoidance strategies that are hidden to even himself. 

Steven didn't prepare him well enough either. Steven has been doing this along with his team professionally long enough to understand the preparation that is required for guests where that preparation also includes emotional and psychological management, especially in the context of Eric now being a well-known dividing yet charismatic character.

Instead Steve just hid behind the thin sheath that exists between the boundaries of external professionalism and internal responsibility. 

Many other presenters wouldn't have done a better job, but because of Steve's own experiences along with his teams, because they spend an inordinate amount of time, resources and preparations usually, there's a higher expectation here. I won't put it down to anymore than I think his crew succumbed to autopilot in their preparations rather than the nuance that was needed to help Eric hold the forte with more emotional security. In some parts, he genuinely felt emotionally unsafe, and that's when his defense's showed disguised as strength.

 I don't think the earth is under any kind of danger of an invasion from malevolent alien species at this point in time considering the possible military resistance that can come from various countries that would view them as a threat.

Alien technological advantages can be offset by human numerical superiority and tactical methods.

However the aliens can excel in manipulation of perception, engineering destructive wars and conflicts between the most powerful nations on earth, and ensure their annihilation.

This would soften up any potential resistance and would set up the foundation for a successful alien invasion later on. 

Any abductions and theft of earths biological and mineral resources would cease to be clandestine any more after such an invasion, imho. 

I have been reading reports of alien hybrids infiltrating influential political circles and penetrating the deep states in some powerful nations for decades now, possibly in pursuit of some agenda of their own. 

I used to think it was fantastic imaginary yellow press and reporting for mere sensation-mongering, but now I feel that  perhaps there maybe some substance to the same in the light of the above hypothesis.
